This is one of the first albums I have ever listened to that I have considered
perfect in every way, lyrically, musically and emotionally. Fantastic work. 11/10

Honestly wish I understood what everyone is on about with this. But this cake has about 9 too many layers and none of them are particularly tasty. Lots of intricate writing that goes nowhere, and an overabundance of aggression that gets tiresome quickly. Like I said, wish I could get it but it's just not there for me :

Epic tech deathcore? I should've known that wouldn't be my cuppa without even listening to it. While the production is great and lets shine bass and other lil acoustic elements, the chuggy chugs chugs and the bloated narrative told by a pedantic voice during 80 minutes is a big no-no.

I can't help but praise this album as a sublime work of art. It's in a sense a metallic equivalent of a Coheed album - a sweeping narrative stretched over a massive tracklist. Without getting too in the weeds here, I return to this album again and again for the confidence Slice the Cake display in melding various metal genres and spoken word into a surprisingly cogent package.

The vocals give off a great theatrical atmosphere while the crisp production and chugging guitars put you on a brutal roller coaster. Love this album, it gets better with each listen! My teeth are rotting out as we speak.
