An incredible and diverse listen from start to finish, as usual the opener and closer are among the very best. It's difficult to believe, but even thirteen albums in they pushed their experimentation even further.

The first two tracks weed out the trv kvlt kids, and the final three showcase some of the furthest rexperimental boundaries Enslaved have ever pushed. This will likely be seen as even more divisive rthan Vertebrae, but the band have once again released a phenomenal record.

In Times sees Enslaved going through the motions, and producing a record far inferior to their previous few. "Daylight" is decent, but the rest is very poor.

Along with Paradise Lost, the old men of the metal scene are destroying 2015. My favorite metal album this year, In Times delivers six tracks of intense proggy Black Metal. The interchange between the growls and melodic vocals are borderline perfect and the riffs capture a fine-line balance of death and melody. The prog is obvious but weaved in so well with solid song writing that it comes off naturally and not just "look at us, we are unpredictable" wankery. All great tracks but Building With Fire and One Thousand Years of Rain are classics.

In Times is certainly an Enslaved album. It sees them following the path they've been taking on recent records towards being slightly more progressive. However, this time it isn't quite as exciting given that everything on here is more or less what you'd expect it to be.

A big step down from their last two records. In Times feels as though Enslaved is going through the motions. The clean vocals sound bored and the riffs are uninteresting. "Daylight" is a decent closer, but that's the only song on In Times anywhere close to the quality of either Axioma Ethica Odini or RIITIIR. Disappointing. 2.5
