While previous soundtracks from Reznor and Ross were more brilliant, Gone Girl's strength lies elsewhere: it's diverse, cohesive and to the point - just a great listen. (It's also terrific in the movie).

Easily Reznor and Ross' most streamlined sound, the soundtrack to Gone Girl flips between eerie, atmospheric synths, and piano ballads ripped straight from The Sims, all the while glued together by a wicked dark side that makes this collaboration between director and composers so unique.

Maintains several various looping motifs in the material without making the music itself sound at
all repetitive. The reprises sound different from the originals, and the score is Reznor's and
Ross' most dynamic in terms of emotion. Gone Girl combines the duo's best components from both The
Social Network and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and makes a soundtrack that's of median length
between the two predecessors, providing a score that compliments a simultaneously dark and serene
film oh so well. As far as conveying tone for film in their score, Reznor and Ross have found
their best.

Amazing. Not only does it outdo the pair's previous work for The Social Network and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but this is easily the best score I have heard all year. Among the different tracks lies a consistent and dire presence that was sorely missing in their more un-restrictive and scatter-shot like works in previous years. Yet, the album still remains varying enough in rhythm to keep the track flowing in unexpected ways. This is film music at its best and most entertaining.
