What A God Awful Album! Sorry if your a fan of 'new' Silverchair but i just hate all these songs,bar a few. Reflections of a Sound: What was Dan thinking when he wrote that it was absolutley terrible. I would perfer he still write like a 15 year old. straight lines got real old real fast being on every ARIA charts show for about 2 months and at the cricket still. One Higlight was Insomnia which i thought opened really well but sort of fell away from it and just got worst.I know i sound very Aussie! Bump

It's 4 am and there it is "Straight Lines" waking me up from a night of tossing and turning. I barely heard the whole song, but the next day something told me to look up Silverchair on Itunes, and there it was. The dream unfolded as I delved deeper into this brilliant and moving new album by these former "grunge" coatailers. Wow, it's nice to see them all grown up and tossing aside who they thought they were to become who they really are. Daniel sings so much better on this album, and really pushes the envelope with some serious vocal acrobatics. Those Thieving Birds took 5 listens to register and with every listen it revealed some new pizzicato string part or some brilliant production aspect. Sonically, this is a masterpiece. Musically, this is by far the best album of the entire year! Lyrically this is up there with our dear rehab-resistant sister Winehouse. I always say..."when truth be told, albums turn to gold." This is pure platinum. Favorite tracks...sort of in order...Those Thieving Birds, Reflections of a Sound, If you keep Losing sleep & Young Modern Station...Straight Lines is like a mother's first born...I heard that tune first and it will always be my favorite. Now the problem. How do you follow up an album like this? Bump

Full of melody and the rockers are very well done. The production is lovely. Young Modern is a worth while record and certainly Silverchairs best body of work. Bump

If you are a Silverchair fan from the 'Frogstomp' days you will find this absolutely different. But if you've grown to like Silverchair from say 'Diorama' and if you listen with an open mind this album is a must have! It has all the right elements for Best Rock Album of the Year, the highest credit a band could ever receive in the rock music world! It did take me a couple of listens to appreciate but these guys have done it this time! The intricate compositions, complex song structures, orchestral arrangements, production and mixing, insightful lyrics and the wonderful first single "Straight Lines" make this album complete in every sense. Lyrics such as "Hi-jack the hurt, I feel so low" is just an example of how Daniel and the band have matured over the years, from the rebellious sounds of Frogstomp (although one of my all-time favorites is "Tomorrow"). This is an amazing masterpiece and I would definitely be surprised if it doesn't make it to the Grammies next year. It is time for a change from Foo Fighters or Red Hot Chilli Peppers or U2 to win the Best Rock Album, the time is now for Silverchair to get their due recognition! Please help take this album to the Grammies, help keep true 'MUSIC' alive. Bump
