There is actually some pretty atmospheric stuff going on here - Problem is that every track is 100% exactly the same and there aren't memorable melodies or rhythms attached to any particular track to make that worth it. It's all just one long drawl of rainy imagery and saxophones. And at 70 minutes long, it wears well thin.

The fact that this is my go to album when reading creepypasta and just watching the rain says something in itself. The album is dark, dreary, and to be quite honest eerie without ever being too overt about. Easily my favorite "dark jazz" album of all time.

16th April: Bohren & der Club of Gore - Sunset Mission (dark jazz, 2000)
I was asked by my sister to put on “whiskey bar vibe music” for a game of cards. This was,
very naturally, the first thing I thought of, even if less than half an hour later she asked
for something “more upbeat” because it was putting her to sleep. This is pure, concentrated
atmosphere. It has one idea, and does it for well over an hour with very little variation,
but you’re not here for variation. You’re not here for light or technicality either. For
anything that requires dark, immersive, pseudo-sophisticated and sinister jazz music, this is
probably the best you’ll ever find.
