So, what would happen if you took some of the members of Dance Gavin Dance and made them heavier and (dare I say it) even more topsy-turvy? You get an album of the year. Secret Band's debut LP is nothing short of perfection. The band has a feel of screamo/psychedelic within it, however, also possessing strong qualities for those interested in the experimental genre and fans of Swans funk-style guitar influences. Though Secret Band has very similar characteristics within it compared to Dance Gavin Dance, it creates a more dynamic and fun experience; one I'm not sure to forget.

"Secret Band's" first full length effort is an experience. From the killer riffage from the very reliable Will Swan, to
the blaring drumming from Matt Mingus, to Jon Mess's nonsensical lyricism and consistent howling. While far
from being consistent, and Jon Mess as a musician is somewhat of an acquired taste, "Secret Band" is a strange
beast that deserves to be listened to for all who know what they're getting themselves into.
