Amazing drumming, bass and guitar playing make this album a must have for any music fan. An unbelievable achievement for three musicians.

Not as consistent as some of the other albums, but Cygnus X-1 and Xanadu are absolute classics, with the latter being my favourite song ever.

My only beef with this prog-rock era Rush album is it's length, as I wished there were more on the disc to listen to. Other than that the balance of shorter, radio-friendly tracks with the longer, proggy epics is down well on the arrangement, making the disc have a more flowing vibe to it. This is definitely one of the band's finest in this pre-synth era, arguably with Hemispheres and perhaps another...

Were it not for "Xanadu," this album would have fallen a whole point from me. It is in my mind one of Rush's best tracks. The concert/radio favorite "Closer to the Heart" is a real gem, but I have to force myself not to remember that I've heard it 1,000 times before to derive any joy from it.

A classic, progressive rock album of it's finest kind. Rush's first real step into the progressive sound they're so well known for, only topped by it's follower, Hemispheres. The best tracks are the two epics, Xanadu and Cygnus X-1, and the title-track, A Farewell to Kings.
