I'm marveled that this was Isis in their infancy. When most bands start off they don't sound the same 5-10 years down the road. With Isis, you can easily see glimpses of what they would come to be. There is really not too much ambiance here but when it does show up, it reminds you of Oceanic or Panopticon. The heavyness that is normally associated with Isis is here as well, even more so. The only thing that drags this album down is the atrocious vocals. Despite the vocals being bad this is definitely worth listening too. This was once described as being heavy and crushing enough to destroy a small city. Well crushing and destroying is definitely what this is.
