Amazing album. A lot of the people who disliked this were angsty teenagers disappointed by the fact Corgan's lyrics were much more mature. If only they'd continued down this route and didn't attempt (and fail) to recapture past successes.

The sound of a band falling apart, and the rising of one most cold blooded rock n roll dictators. More than a album, Adore must be considered as a historic lesson about nascissism in general music.

A welcome change of pace from the first three albums. Every song feels fresh while not straying too far from the Pumpkins formula. Every song is catchy and cuts deep. The best way I could describe this album would be somber, ethereal, gothic, and emotional to the core. Highly recommend, and a must listen for anyone checking out the Pumpkins.

About a couple weeks ago I listened to this album walking down the sidewalks in my town in the almost freezing cold... crying, just. I don't even know why, but I was... in an awful mood, and, well... this album is what loss, and fear, and beauty mixed into one all sounds like.

No one could ever claim that the recording sessions of a Smashing Pumpkins album sounded fun. The results - magnificent during their early career- were in many ways a testament to that dysfunction. However, the sessions that made the distracted 'Adore' must have been crushing. Moments of greatness are outweighed by the numbing repetition of an unsure songwriter playing for time.

After listening to this since the 90's it has lost much of it's flavor. The electronic beats on the album are outdated. Lyrical content has improved but feels like an after thought of Mellon Collie. Also, filler is excessive.

The first Smashing Pumpkins album I got into, and definitely my favourite. Adore takes big leaps in maturity
from the last couple albums, with the band no longer relying on heavier and heavier guitars to add drama and
power to each track. With most of the album on the slower side, the band really steps up with more powerful
lyrics, experimentation with digital beats to replace their missing drummer, and orchestrated music to make
each track as grandiose as their usual sound. It may not have as many popular singles, but this album
definitely has the more powerful.

Once you're able to get passed the seeming bait and switch Billy and Co. pulled with lead single "Ava Adore's" brooding Gothic sound, one can find a solid soft and dark album that's very fitting for a long drive at night.

A different mood from the band but still awesome SP. Jimmy's trademark drums are missed a bit, but given the experimentation done on the album they manage to pull it off. Adore is just a classic cut from the band's catalog.

The Pumpkins' "techno" album. Adore is full of electronic beats but that's not to say it's danceable or anything. In fact this takes on a more gothic vibe than anything. After Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie there was bound to be a let down but that doesn't mean this isn't a great album. Tear is absolutely incredible and Ava Adore utilizes the electronic beats very well without sounding mechanized. The album flows very well and is always a good listen but don't expect a classic here.

This album made the fans and critics lurch in their seats-while a song like 'Ava Adore' could have easily been featured on Mellon Collie, the darker, slower burning electro-pop tracks on Adore could have not. But they hold their own, with Corgan's true emotion bleeding from these tracks and the pure songwriting talent of Corgan shining through.

If SP's musical & lyrical magnum opus was searched for, it wouldn't be MCIS or SD, but Adore. This album contains some of the best lyrics Billy's ever written, it may be musically toned down compared to MCIS & SD but it makes the album more emotionally powerful which gels with the lyrics perfectly. Songs like Perfect, Behold! The Nightmare, Appels + Oranjes & For Martha are for me the best songs on the album because they manage to speak to me in way few other SP songs can. People hate Adore because "It's not like Smashing Pumpkins", this album to me is SP at their peak, SD was the start of their rise, MCIS was the the booster that made it keep going, & Adore proved the musicianship & lyrical writing prowess that this band possessed. However... I feel that SP are never gonna write & make another album this grand again... but I'm still hoping for it...
