This is a band that I cannot get into. In theory, I should like them-- their energy is top-notch-- but in practise, their songs run together, their riffs are bland, and, ultimately, their music just bores me. From Parts Unknown, like everything else I've heard from Every Time I Die, suffers from these problems.

The thing is, I totally understand why this record isn't for everyone. It can feel like a Deathwish impersonation record at times, and it's sometimes unclear if that's what Every Time I Die are best at. But I enjoy this record a bit more every time I hear it, and I think that's because the band has finally found a way to experiment while still staying true to their roots. They didn't need to add any banjos to the mix to hold my attention this time around- instead, they wrote an album that goes just as hard as its contemporaries.

What Insurrection said but with less hyperbole even though I rated it higher than him (In other words it rules and is their best album since Hot Damn!) This is an eclectic album containing all influences and genres prevalent in ETID's discography. From Parts Unknown is a furious release filled to the brim with frantic riffs and harsh vocals, a must listen for 2014.
