I'm expecting more than just violin kissed dubstep this time around Ms. Stirling, and so far I'm rather disappointed.

has several awkward compositions that make it difficult to give such a high score, and the vox on a couple tracks are pretty pointless, but when she kills it she kills it. take flight, ascendance and master of tides are especially potent

You know what the press likes to say, often to the point of reiterating until the cows come home: America's got talent. However, in the case of violinist and composer Lindsey Stirling, technique is something that can only get this Californian native so far. Her sophomore full-length effort Shatter Me relies on style more than it does substance, rather than finding either a balance between the two or highlighting the latter. Solid instrumentation and a pretty interesting concept woven into the record do not a sempiternal, cohesive album make; if anything, Stirling's second official release comes off as uneven in quality. It's enjoyable, albeit not too unforgettable in the slightest, and the hype surrounding Lindsey Stirling herself is baffling.

Interesting concept but not very well executed. The violin is fantastic but too generic electronic brostep stuff that is cringe worthy... Maybe having an electronic producer help her on these parts (Burial, Four Tet, and Massive Attack come to mind). She already has a great following on YouTube, she could have reached out to one of them to make a record. Maybe I love the idea but hate the execution more is what bothers me about this...

You can live without it, believe me...rIf You want violin, listen to Johann Strauss, but if You want dubstep, then grab some Benga or so.

Kind of standard dubstep background music with some pretty cool violin playing over the top. Interesting concept and enjoyable while listening. I don't know how often I'd come back to something like this, though.
