4.0 excellent | thurs | October 20th 17 | A really cool, heavy album that works quite well. A great listen, but I'm not sure if the bands went far enough in complementing or adding to each other's strengths. Seeing them perform this live was a treat though.

3.5 great | Alabaster Jones | March 22nd 17 | The first and lesser of two collaborative efforts between two southern-born doom metal giants in The Body and Thou, Released From Love lays out a very solid blueprint for their full-length collab You, Whom I Have Always Hated and is a pretty good EP on it's own. The two bands play to each other's strengths, with The Body's deconstructionist take on doom mixing well with Thou's venomous, yet melancholic style. Both Chip King and Bryan Funck are top-notch with their vocals, especially on the surprisingly awesome Vic Chesnutt cover "Coward". The production makes everything sound absolutely massive, like some sort of slow-moving steamroller, and the songwriting, while not the best these two would come up with together, is still commendable. If you're a fan of doom/drone/sludge and haven't heard either of the collabs these two bands put down, get on them.

4.0 excellent | aaronrkc | July 12th 15 | This just sounds like a Thou record playing at the same time as a The Body record but I'm real cool with that.
