| 3.5 great | Jared W. Dillon EMERITUS | February 15th 07 | Exploding with a riff that sounds almost straight out of an Ennio Morricone composition, “All of A Sudden I Miss Everyone” certainly establishes itself as a record different from EiTS’s past work. While they aren’t building into layered soundscapes the same way they did previously, on the limited release, “The Rescue,” the combination of the ideas from that record and their past work is clearly shown on opener “The Birth and Death of the Day.” Other notable tracks are the brooding epic “It’s Natural To Be Afraid” and the depressing piano based “What Do You Go Home To?” Explosions in the Sky has clearly taken note of their flaws and with all of their effort tried to do something original with “All of A Sudden I Miss Everyone.” Adding touches of piano and improving on the stylings of their guitar playing has left the record feeling fresh. However, their search for stretching their sound does seem a little limited in the end; moments like the crescendo at 5:55 in “The Birth and Death Of The Day “ seem like they could easily be transferred back into songs found on their early releases. A sense of “I’ve already heard this” is certainly always present when listening to “All of A Sudden I Miss Everyone.”

| 4.5 superb | Michael Freitag | September 12th 07 | All of a Sudden, I Miss Everyone finds Explosions in the Sky combining all of the elements that worked best for them in the past and even playing around with new developments in their approach. After peaking on The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place, it seemed like EitS had nowhere to go. The band surprised us with their next release, displaying incredible tact and concise songwriting and adding new elements to their sound in the process. These new ideas are clearly present in All of a Sudden..., which is why it's so successful - it's an Explosions album through and through, but it doesn't come off as ...Cold Dead Place Part Two, thanks to welcome experimentation within their sound.
Most noticeable is the leaps and bounds taken by drummer Christopher Hrasky, as he displays his best and most innovative drumming work to date. He takes opportunities to do something other than ride back seat to the guitarists, and you'll even find his work driving the music hard and fast through snare rolls and time changes. Speaking of time changes - they actually happen on this record, obviously but effortlessly. Beautiful stuff - though one is left wondering if Explosions really have anywhere else to take their sound, or at least anywhere that the Texas foursome is willing to take it.

| 4.5 superb | Aaron LaClair | January 24th 13 | The heavier brother to The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place, every song is magnificent and provides the same emotion as the record aforementioned, It's Natural To Be Afraid may be one of the best songs ever written.

| 4.0 excellent | Motiv3 | October 9th 09 | with a darker atmosphere with underlining melodies and gorgeous piano and upbeat riffs, all of a sudden, I miss Everyone is another breathtaking beautiful album only ruined slightly by the over the top upbeat parts of welcome, ghosts. The last two songs are perfect closers showing Explosions in the sky's capability of making stunning post rock.

| 3.5 great | Nate Sniffen | February 19th 08 | Epic, haunting, blissful, this album has it all. "The Birth And Death of the Day" contains one of my favorite climaxes of all time, and the gentleness of the rest of the album although depressing at times comforts the listener. It's hard to climax so often and yet still appear creative, thus, this album does feel a little limited. However, the album still immensely satisfied me, with its pretty melodies and beautiful orchestration.

| 3.5 great | Ryan Flatley EMERITUS | February 28th 07 | They say everything is bigger in Texas. Well if you are talking about the sound resonating from Texas natives, Explosions in the Sky, then you are right. Their new album entitled, “All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone,” takes listeners from tranquility to glistening roars throughout with perfectly placed crescendos and decrescendos. They build off their previous release, “The Rescue,” that took an astonishing eight days to write and record. Like “The Rescue,” they incorporate a piano and an auxiliary of different instruments for added layers of effect. Be certain to check out the stunningly beautiful single, “Welcome, Ghosts,” to get an inside glimpse of the contents within.

| 4.0 excellent | Micky67 | February 21st 07 | Every single element that makes EITS so special is intact on "All of A Sudden..". The guitar interplay, the intensity, the swooning melodies, the militaristic percussion, it's all there. Explosions In The Sky are back and have reclaimed their throne. They are the Kings once again
