improved production, improved song writing, but just a few too many chugs. very solid sophomore effort,
definitely better than the fantasy effect

The second half of the album is way better than the first half as some of the songs on the first half are a little chug heavy. Not that i mind because they still are technical and heavy while being melodic which are my 3 fav words when it comes to metal

Good guys makin good tunes. I like this album better than the previous in every way. There are some spots in Exi(s)t that sound reminiscent of the pros...in the best ways possible. Good leads and great solos, and even if there are one or two too many open chugs, the polyrhythms and non-repetitious patterns characteristic of the band kept it interesting to me the whole way through. May not be every cup of tea, but it's as good as most albums I've heard from 2013.

Pros: Lots of substance that keeps me coming back to it, admirable technical prowess, some sweet melodic lead work here and there (i got kinda surprised at that), great dynamic flow, some very catchy moments. Oh, and excellent production (huge step up from their first release).rCons: Melodic/atmospheric moments are decent at best and fail to leave an impression, Lost Pages has subpar female vocals and guitar work supporting them. Still a few too many junz

A lot of promise on show here, especially in regards to the way in which melody and brutal technical musicianship is intertwined. "Lost Pages" has a wonderful ambient section and the solos throughout "Stories through the storms" and "My Cancer" are well executed. I think the main problem here is the band's lack of focus sometimes as structures becomes too clogged up with unnecessary additional dynamics or electronic interludes.

Love this album, could not stop listening for weeks. I had a really difficult time picking between TesseracT's Altered State and these guys for Best album of 2013. I actually ended up tying them, but TesseracT is maybe just a little bit ahead. These guys are YOUNG and so talented. Very humble too. This shit slams.

Production is a million times better than Reflections. But sadly it's about the only thing that's better.

3 songs in and I already have a headache - in the worst way possible. Nothing but fucking monotonous chugs and synths.

this is just not good. nothing but open notes. the stop-start drumming/chugs/syncopation shit they do is so god damn bland. they'd be alright if they stopped filling every song with that shit. cool artwork tho
