Talk about great comebacks. As a big time Tuomas Saukkonen fan, I was saddened by news, that Tuomas has
disbanded Before The Dawn, Black Sun Aeon and his other bands, but this new album proves that he doesn't need to
do BtD or BSA albums to be awesome and great. Hell, he doesn't needs to have a single band member or a famous
producer to create a masterpiece! Every song on this album is soulful, atmospheric and great. Production is great,
vocals are great and everything about this album is great! Best melodeath album of 2013. The only album that is
close to Wolfheart's Winterborn's greatness is Soilwork's The Living Infinite.

Sukkonen's latest effort is the best melodic album of 2013. The ebbs and flows created by his songwriting; the strong vocal performance; the riffs, which are not only more interesting than other bands within the same genre, but convey a greater sense emotion than others; and the variation in tempo from song to song and within songs themselves, which lends a great deal to building climaxes for which Sukkonen is good at. At times you may hear an interesting solo or a nice instrumental passage. The drumming, though not stellar, suits the music well. This is one of the few records I have heard which comes close to Insomnium`s records. Again, my favorite melodic album of 2013. It topped the latest efforts from October Tide, Children of Bodom, Dark Tranquility, Amon Amarth, Amorphis, In Vain, Viikate, Eternal Tears of Sorrow, Omnium Gatherum, Noumena, Mercenary, Hypocrisy, Rotting Christ, Kalmah(only slightly), Arsis, and Soilwork. Yes, I listened to all of those records.

It's November the 6th and yet the weather in Greece is too warm to fully appreciate the winterborn (sic) folk/black/melodeath metal of Sukkonen's new band. While there is merely nothing new under the sun compared to Sukkonen's prior outfits, everything in Winterborn is masterfully executed.
