First impressions: not as good as impulse. Things seem much more varied on this album and their sound is pretty stellar. It took me awhile to get used to the cleans on impulse and its probably going to take longer here. It feels like theyre trying to do too much with the cleans and theyre kinda all over the place here. Still amazing atmosphere and musicianship and their main vocalist is pretty good. Although it seems like hes toned it down a bit.

It's Impulse part 2. In a way this is very disappointing, they don't experiment with their sound or add a single new thing to it. That being said, once you come to terms with that and just listen to this for what it is, it's great stuff. Jesse sounds amazing on this album and there's some really beautiful guitar work, these guys are talented so more of the same will do the trick... For now.

I like metalcore. This is exactly what I like to hear when I listen to a metalcore band. Everyone who says this sounds exactly like whatever else you think it sounds like, shut the fuck up. There is not a single metalcore band I would confuse this album for. I know you're all high and mighty with your Jane Doe or whatever Dillinger or Botch album you like, as if all of their albums don't sound exactly like eachother. Sure, this album won't be for everyone, but give me a fucking break if you praise the homogeneous riffs of those earlier metalcore bands and completely write off the effort and ingenuity put into the guitar work on this album. Put your bias of hating modern metalcore with clean vocals aside and at least give credit where credit is due. Classic modern metalcore album.

Not only completely dashing from "The Second LP Curse" but also making small creative changes in their already strong formula, Erra returns with a highlight in modern melodic metalcore greatness. It truly amazes me with each listen how much weight and varied song-structure each song carries. I look forward to future releases.

From the opening riff of "Alpha Seed" to the closing ambiance of "Dementia", it's apparent why Erra should be considered one of, if not THE best metalcore band around right now. The earth-shaking growls of Garrison Lee clash with the soaring cleans of Jesse Cash, get wrapped in a firestorm of catchy riffs, and are topped off with the cherry that is excellent drumming, leading to the best damn thing you'll ever sink your teeth into.

A heavy and surprisingly varied sophomore album considering it sounds so similar to their debut. I guess if it ain't broke, why fix it? Hopefully next time around we'll see some more diversity in structure. It is, however, extremely disheartening to see that Alan Rigdon split from this band. My money is on where he goes next after Erra.
