Greatly melodic, properly polished, and appropriately abrasive, Endgame may not be as excellent as its predecessor, but it still is a great addition to one of deathcore's most interesting bands. The latter half of the album far from squanders the expectations set by the former, but it does not deliver in all the same ways.
An odd example of deathcore band whose top priority doesn't seem to lie in pummeling the listener. Melody is a rather large focus along with simply interesting winding riffs. The instruments and vocals are all performed extremely well and, combined with strong songwriting and variety, makes for a standout deathcore record.
Perhaps not as deathcore-ish as their S/T, but END GAME shows Shadow of the Colossus taking a step in the right direction, developing more of their progressive roots and creating a catchy and well produced album. Definitely recommended
