Massive improvement over the first two albums. They could always play, but now they have some good songs to back up the raw skill.

It is rare to see a band like Haken that manages to evoke such an emotional response with music that is so absolutely sincere, and well constructed that it really defines what music is capable of. Previous albums were already extremely strong entries for Haken and really set the bar high for this English group. However, Haken manages to soar above the bar with The Mountain. The album has no wasted space, no needless technicality, and no element ever feels out of place. This album is a masterpiece and anyone who claims to be a fan of Progressive rock or metal should give this album a try.

One of the best records that came out recently. Everything from the epic lyrical concept to the vocal harmonies reminescent of Gentle Giant, Haken take you through a musical journey that you won't soon forget. A truly modern classic

This is where they, imo, truly found their style. The traditional prog metal elements are losing importance, to the benefit of their own heavy synth thang. The symphonic shtick is also reduced to its bare minimum, which isn't to displease me. Still, in the grand scheme of things, this is a technical, epic, overlong, cheesy album. It's prog metal.

I think Atlas Stone and Cockroach King do a great job at illustrating how exhilarating and powerful this album can be at points and how lame and cheesy it can be at others.

I already preordered this shit. Easily one of the best prog metal tracks I've heard a while. (Note: Do not assume this is Djent. It is NOT. It's like Modern Dream Theater minus everything that makes Dream Theater bad, but times a billion of what makes them good.)

The definition of a 3.5 prog metal album. Best songs are The Path, Atlas Stone, Cockroach King and Because It's There, the other songs don't come close.

After the hugely improved Visions over the debut, Haken fully reveal their quirky side. This album has everything from Metal and jazz to eastern music and acappela. The concept is great too, and though it lacks flow and consistency at times imo, it's nevertheless a wonderful showcase of music.
