Stripped down acoustic passages, poetic lyrics, atmospherics and intense post-hardcore all play a part in mewithoutYou's third full-length, Brother, Sister. Though the band manage to play some very interesting music with this release, it is all for the purpose of backing Aaron Weiss' passionate half-sung, half-spoken vocal attack. Titled in reference to the work of St. Francis of Assisi, Brother, Sister is a religious album, but if that isn't a turn-off for you, you owe it to yourself to check out one of the best and more original post-hardcore albums of 2006.

This album is truly inspiring. There aren't many albums that can do what this one did. It really helped me stay positive through life. This album came to me when I was down and right after everything turned itself around. My life just kept getting better and this album walked with me through all of it. Sure, it didn't help me through shit, but it helped me get even more out of life than I thought possible.

So lyrically captivating and musically interesting; easily one of my favorite albums of all time. Aaron is so honest and endearing in both his lyrics and vocal approach. He makes this band great, and I've yet to come across a frontman as impressive as him. He truly shines in this album. The band accompanies him perfectly in this album. They find a balance that was seamless. It's the most I've ever connected with an album, and will always hold a strong place in my heart.

I don't enjoy this as much as I think I should but I enjoy it more and more with every listen. I feel like I'm still absorbing it after three listens. Regardless, it's still a good album. The closing track, "In a Sweater Poorly Knit" is a phenomenal and there are many 'wow' moments in this. It's growing on me and when it finally clicks, I know it'll feel amazing.

I find it kind of strange that I love this album. For starters, I'm not exactly the most religious person and most bands that write lyrics about religion, usually, turn me off. However, I love the lyrics on this album because it's not praising God or anything else of the sort. The band itself realizes that at times there is an absence of God and it's only human to question the existence of any type or form of a god. Another reason I love this album is because of the emotion and the passion each band member displays. The lead singer, Aaron Weiss, is an amazing vocalist and one of the best frontman I've heard in a long time. He is energetic and brings something special to each song on the album. Another standout is the drumming. The drumming may not be the best or most technical, but the drumming on this particular album adds to the album and it really makes each song special. I will always cherish this album and in times of need I know it will bring me great comfort.

Once again, mewithoutYou deliver a very good album. Only this time around, we must call their newest effort PERFECT. A beautiful Vasily Kafanov painting adorns the cover of the album, which follows precedence. The music inside the cover takes a cue from the painting itself. Layered with gorgeous orchestration and lush harmonies, Brother, Sister is sure to please. This album proves the band has taken another step down the road of musical progression and artistic expression. Not as hard as their first record; not as spare as their second- this one is just right.r

Weiss yet again yells and speaks his poetry over beautiful music, in the most enchanting way. This time it's with a slightly less angry atmosphere, and a few moving, campfire-esque interludes. Weiss brings a little more singing to his unique vocal style, without abandoning it.

I didn't really 'get' the praise for this at first, but "Brother, Sister" deserves every last drop of praise it receives, as it combines emotional post-hardcore with artistic indie to create a style that I've never heard before. Vocalist Aaron Weiss goes back and forth between talking and singing melodies, and that balance is always equal. He's like a poet; every line flows into the next one perfectly. One of the best albums I've heard in a long time, and one that surely only grow more on me throughout the summer, as I plan to listen to this masterpiece multiple times, only to further enjoy its perfection.

Aaron Weiss has possibly some of the best music I have ever seen. Some of his ideas are just mind blowing. This is definitely mwY's best work to date, and it's hard to listen to any thing off this album without listening to it the entire way through.

This is a real grower. I hated it at first, went to thinking it was meh, went to ok, then
good. I think it's a little over-rated, but these guys definitely are good musicians.
Aaron's voice annoys me, but it's very interesting all the same. I'm sure it'll grow on
me more since I listen to a track every day just b/c of the originality.

This cd is amazing. mewithoutYou, or Aaron rather, seems to be in a..maybe spiritual depression, as he writes his lyrics. They seem very humble and less energetic as their past albums. I love it. Though A-B Life and Catch For Us The Foxes were superb as well, Brother, Sister is easy listening and a good cd to listen to when you would like to think. I would chose A-B Life to jam, if your in that mood. Catch For Us The Foxes tops them all I must say.
