There's no hyperbole in stating "Southeastern" is a perfect singer-songwriter album. Every song is completely affective, most of them emotionally draining. 'Elephant' is the most painfully honest and devastating portrayal of cancer I?ve ever witnessed musically. But every song is unique and powerful in its own way. An instant classic that will tug at anyone?s heartstrings provided they have a soul.

Delicate singer/songwriter stuff. As always I should have put much more focus on the lyrics, but one can still feel the melancholy with the music alone. While nothing here is real new stuff, the arrangements are clearly meticulously composed, even the most understated ones. Gotta re-listen, but it's good stuff.

I've always said that the best albums are those who ask for some patience. Not work, mind you, patience. First impressions are pleasant, perhaps even lovely, but the more you live with it, the more those vulnerable emotions become as real as your own, all the while never realizing it until tears are trickling down your cheeks. Yeah, this is one of those albums. A stone-cold classic.
