Why this isn't as highly praised as White Pony is beyond me. It's a perfect blend of heavy and soft, Chino's croons are sexier than ever, the songs simply ooze with majesty and dreamy vibes.

This album could have been a classic, it really could have. There is some fat to trim away, in the form of "Rapture" and "Mein," and just cut that inane, pointless monologue out of "Pink Cellphone," and you've got yourself one solid track. The positive column yields perhaps the best opening and closing tracks of any album of this past year, as well as the superb musicianship that is expected out of this group. As well, the instrumental track "U, U, D, D, L, R, L, R, A, B, Select, Start," is nothing short of amazing. All around, a sure top-ten inclusion for 2006, and an album that musn't be ignored.

Saturday Night Wrist features a new Deftones. Here, instead of emulating past nu-metal success, or completely
lapsing in a post-Team Sleep paralysis, Deftones hit hard somewhere between the two, leading to an album that is
strangely beautiful. Nine of the twelve songs are immaculate and powerful.

EXCELLENT ALBUM!!!! The standout part of the whole album is Chino. His vocals are so varied and really take each song to a new level. There are some great guitar riffs but I feel there could have been alot more of them. Somehow i have a feeling its not the guitarists fault because the band wanted to go a different direction than the guitarist. Either way it turned out great. It's the Deftones most melodic album to date but that doesn't effect the heaviness at all. Rapture Kimdracula and Rats are HEAVY. All in all I'd say this direction the Deftones have taken is far better than their earlier days. They now have their own signature sound and this verywell might be their best record to date.

Pretty damn near incredible album. There's really so many great moments on this record it's hard to list. It's not quite at the level of White Pony (and really, what is?) but it's most likely second-illest. Chino's singing is better than ever with some truly awe-inspiring moments ("Combat", "Cherry Waves", "Rats!Rats!Rats!"), Chino and Stephen's guitar interplay is the best yet (and possibly last since Eros is all Stephen), Chi actually writes some sick basslines ("Cherry Waves"), Frank Delgado puts out his finest keyboard/DJ work yet, and Abe is as smooth and sick as ever. The strongest part of the album is the experimentation, though. The sonic backdrops provided by Delgado work perfectly with the ambient, major-key melodies that litter this record. Not to mention that there's hardly a single weak track on the whole album (with the obvious exception of "Pink Cellphone" and the monotonous, pointless inclusion of Serj on "Mein"). The second-best Deftones record and a personal fave.

Well simply put, Saturday Night Wrist has got to be one of my favorite albums by the Deftones. When I first heard it I was blown away. Deftones self titled album that was released a few years ago did not really grasp me you know? I mean I liked the song Bloody Cape alot, but I was just a little disappointed with that album. But songs on SNW such as Hole in the Earth, Cherry Waves, and Mein are just freakin' sweet. Those three songs would have to be my favorites off the album. The rest of the album is great as well, but no other album has drawn me in like this when it comes to Deftones... well... White Pony was a good damn album as well. But I recommend this album to everyone.

It might be quite tough to get into it at first. But once you spend enough time with it, it will offer you a flawlessly crafted journey with astonishing shifts between heavy outbursts and spacey, yet gentle soundscapes. Undoubtedly on par with their magnum opus "White Pony".

Deftones has a hard time making anything bad. It's not "White Pony," but it very well might be the next best thing. The dreamy guitar sounds as aggressive as ever as it is played more furiously than on their previous material. The addition of some ethereal key loops and sensual baselines culminate to form an unexpected turn in Deftones' sound. Moreno also sounds great here.

Given the circumstances the Deftones found themselves at the time (I'm looking at your feuds, Chino and Stephen), the Deftones still managed to come off with a solid album full of eerie melodies, heavy riffs and stellar vocal performances. Sure it's miles away from their other albums, sure most songs seem rushed, and sure the sound quality is awkwardly uneven at times. But let's face it: If they had not released SNW, the Deftones would have more than likely disbanded.

Underrated. That's the only thing that I can think about this album. Has some of the best Deftones songs: the spacy "Hole In The Earth" and "Xerces", the beautiful "Cherry Waves" and "Rivière", the instrumental "U, U, D, D, L, R, L, R, A, B, Select, Start", the -holyshitthisisheavy- "Rats! Rats! Rats!", and of course, the epic "Kimdracula", which is in fact, one of the best songs the have ever writen. Even the "meh's" are awesome (Mein), and the kinda-shitty "Pink Cellphone" gets catchy as fuck after a while. Best Deftones album besides White Pony.

Some absolutely amazing tracks - Kimdracula may be one of the most arresting songs Deftones have written. However the heavy-heavy moments sound forced and insincere, and two words: Pink Cellphone. Still a great album, and much better than it's given credit for.

This is the Deftones reaching a pinnacle-which holds a thin line between total collapse or a new comeback. Fortunately they follow through with the comeback with Diamond Eyes. But despite all the pain that went through making Saturday Night Wrist-it's interesting to hear all the tension b/w all the songs to the space metal backdrops. Chino vocals sound rather strained here but he uses it to his strength to represent the state of where the band is at the moment. In the end though it all works and shows to be another success from the Deftones.

I usually consider White Pony to be the ultimate Deftones album but this might have just dethroned White Pony becuase this is simply amazing. It mixes beauty and heaviness perfectly, and often within the same song. Chino's vocals can be soothing and angelic then suddenly switch to his torchered screams. It has everything the Deftones are known for (atmosphere, heaviness, beauty, darkness) and take it all to another level. Overall this is the perfect Deftones album.

It was decent overall, but shameful compared to most Deftones. The albums concept was fantastic, while the execution was terrible. The quality is somewhat inconsistent, the first half of the album is VERY scattered in sound. The 2nd half, things really begin to change. Xerces and Riviere are the best two songs off the album, yet sound the least like the Deftones. This could lead to something great because of the diversity, or something awful. Overall it was decent, but looking more forward to Eros.

After first hearing My Own Summer (Shove It) years ago I couldn't let this band go.
They did metal differently than many of the artists they were compared to. This album is no different it's haunting and beautiful... Cherry Waves and Kimdracula standing out from the rest.
