Dizzy Up The Girl is by far, in my humble opinion, The Goo Goo Dolls' best work. It's kept mellow for the most part, is full of simplistically complex acoustic riffs, and is just a good album to sink into. Black Balloon is obviously the song that ties the whole album together, but is by no means the ONLY highlight of the album. The album has many enjoyable moments, and isn't a derivative of anything else in it's genre. This album will live on for generations. Hell! I'm living proof of that! I'm a 16 year old caught in the age of "Nicki Minaj" and "Snoop Dog" and other worthless crap that will die down in a few years, and somehow this album has made it to my ears, and I (belonging to another generation than the album) am simply in love with it. This album will live forever.

This album marks a change in the Goo Goo Doll's style. Before, they were more rock/punk oriented, but with each record, that influence slowly faded away. On this album, that punk influence is literally non-existent. But is this a dissapointment? In this case, no, as the band pulls it off well. I enjoy most of the songs on this album and even the ones that I don't particularly like hold their own. A solid pop rock album.

A really strong pop rock album. Starts with a great opener in "dizzy" and just gets better. Very simple song structures, but who cares, it works so well. This is their best album, my fave tracks are "name" (limited edition copies) & "black balloon".

My opinion on this album is quite simple. Every song that Johnny sings on is a classic, especially the very underrated "Bullet Proof". But anything that Robby lays down words on, is just completely ruined by his horrible melodies and voice. While those songs still contain some solid music, his terrible singing just completely ruins it all for me. But songs like "Black Balloon", "Bullet Proof", "Dizzy", and "Slide" are not to be missed.
Yes, I didn't mention Iris in that list...
