I think this album is shockingly important, especially in terms of Tyler's growth as an artist. The production on this album is stellar, and we're finally able to see Tyler, the Person. Although the 'people' in this album are 'fictional,' we're listening to so much reality. 48 is so catchy and fun/tragic (ala Frank Ocean's 'Crack Rock'), and his verse is Rusty is such a mic drop. He wants so hard to be taken seriously, and I think this album finally gives him a chance.

I'll admit that I actually would have enjoyed listening to this if I didn't speak English... or even if I just didn't know the meaning of a couple words (I'm sure you can guess which ones).rBut I do. I fully understand the argument that 'those words' are supposed to provoke emotions and are not targeted at any group, but that doesn't change the fact that they ARE targeted at a group. rToo bad. He's obviously got talent, but he's behind the curve on this one.

Tyler is kind of stuck in this area where he wants to try new things but can't quite
completely let go of his old habits, and this really shows through on Wolf. The
typical provocative nature of the lyrics comes off as really forced at this point, and
its background purpose as a production showcase really doesn't make too much
sense since Tyler's numbing profanity directs all the attention to himself when he
speaks. However, the progressions, as subtle as they may be, are definitely
noticeable here. This is a solid hip hop album that delivers the thrills fans desire
and expect from OFWGKTA, but it's nowhere near as dingy as Goblin or
Bastard were. This shows that Tyler's comfortably moving out of his dark corner
of a safe zone, and truly creating in a broader and more confident light. Even if he
may not just yet be comfortable with shedding the skin of his former self and fully
thematically embracing his new lifestyle.

If this was just instrumentals... but it isn't. Instead we get the privilege of listening to what sounds like a middle schooler saying immature things. Now I understand its odd future, but they haven't developed at all. Mellowhype's Numbers and Wolf are utter Trash. P.s. Fuck Loiter Squad as well these kids are a joke. Shame they seemed pretty promising...

It's good, but like 25 minutes too long because it doesn't really have much of an emotional
development from beginning to end and is a little samey. At least Goblin had Tyler go insane
or whatever the fuck happened in that album but we can pretend that one didn't happen
because he's actually putting his talent to good use here and it's good and stuff. Probably
a 4 at very highest because of the length.
