If The Fire showed Senses Fail hinting at the aggressive side in their sound, Renacer shows the band
fully embracing it. This album is relentless, with the riffs hitting hard and Buddy's vocal performance being his
most intense and ethereal to date. His screams have never sounded better, and the vocal melodies are very
well placed. The lineup changes have steered the band more in the direction of a hardcore sound, and it
proves to be a welcome change on what just might be the best album of their career.

For better or worse, this is a Senses Fail we haven't yet seen. This is Senses Fail at their heaviest and most aggressive. Buddy Nielsen puts forth one of his most impressive vocal performances yet, spewing forth some damn surprising borderline growls. The musicianship has been upped as well, with a much more abrasive edge than before. In terms of quality, it might not necessarily be their best album, but it's definitely a refreshing change of pace for the group. rAlso, "Holy Mountain" is one of the best songs they've ever written.

This is not what i expected from senses fail. Definitely a more intense heavy sound that I am loving. You can still tell its sense fail, but only just.

I appreciate any band that isn't afraid of change or progression, and these New Jersey natives proved they are doing just that-- progressing-- with this release. Renacer is Senses Fail's heaviest record yet. It is also consistent, well-performed, and all around excellent. Furthermore, it contains some of the catchiest tracks of the year, and Buddy's vocals have really improved.

I had serious doubts about this band for years now. They were a good emo band on their first album (even though I dislike that genre), but then they released a string of really disappointing albums. However, Renacer sees the New Jersey band take an actually interesting path on here, trying to sound a LOT more aggresive, darker, and "in-your-face", resulting in an actually really good rock/metal album with solid hardcore foundations. Think Rise Against, Thrice, Parkway Drive and Chevelle mixed together. Not the best album of the year, but definitely a great one.
