My favorite album of all time, a life changer--especially the song "Pleasant Bullet." A song that seems to be overlooked in most reviews I've read. From the producers of the classic "The Shape of Punk to Come" by the mighty Refused I believe this is the best recorded album I've ever heard. The work Eskil Lövström and Pelle Henricsson put into this record is very apparent from the first listen and I don't think I've found anything I don't like on You Come Before You. I have nothing but great things to say about this album. Altogether amazing work from my favorite band--a tough one to top.

A truly stunning record. It took me a while to really give this it's full credit (I'd always loved 'Ghostchant' and 'Apathy is a Cold Body' but it took me some time to get the rest) but this is a fantastic and undoubtedly the best post-opposites Poison the Well record.
Here, they actually manage to rival the mighty Deftones in song writing and melody, while still holding onto it's hardcore roots and metal influences; if anything, this accomplishes something Deftones never really did - a complete, flowing record.
Although 'Apathy is a Cold Body' is undeniably the centre-piece (where Jeffrey Moreira gives the performance of his career from drifting, gorgeous melodies to terrifying screams all in the same breath) it is in this record's more subtle pieces where we find some real gem's in 'For a Bandaged Iris' and 'The Realist'.
A truly stunning record; the perfect meeting point from ruthless, brutal guitar work and wonderful melody, and one that really, should have seen Poison the Well hit the big time.

Welp, it really is a classic of it's genre. Very few albums from the post-hardcore genre tops this.

The double-whammy of "The Opinionated Are So Opinionated" and "Apathy Is a Cold Body" is great. Still, too much of this record is juvenile, blaring, cymbal-crashing metalcore ("Loved Ones," "Crystal Lake"). To be truly effective, this album needs more dynamic contrast, beyond insignificant addenda. I was a fan of Poison the Well's early output, and I can appreciate the growth they are making, but yelling over chords is only interesting for so long. Other highlights include "For a Bandaged Iris" and "Zombies Are Good For Your Health," which are fun.

"You Come Before You" is easily Poison the Well's opus. From the sweet yet not overly complicated guitar work, to Jeffrey Moreira's passionate performance, the Florida based group's third effort is definitely an essential listen for any Metalcore fan.

The glamorous subtleties and the frankly amorous ruthlessness meet up with one another here. Poison the Well went to enormous lengths in order to refine their musical style, and all their training had apparently been paid off just from staring into You Come Before You's cover art. Experimentalism and a noisy punk character suddenly feel at ease.

The evolution PTW has showcased since they came out into the hardcore scene has been something quite remarkable. Coming from TFTR, YCBY displayed such lush harmonies and such depth that had not been touched by other acts. This is a sound that has not been replicated. Although the recording could have been polished a bit more, the lyrics, structures, themes, and layers on each track are worth a listen. Def one to sit down for with the book in your hand and memorize line by line. Amazing, articulate and a defining moment in the bands profile.
