sempiternal will most definitely be an enigma for anyone that was planning to loathe this album. the refreshing experimentation contained within its predecessor is impressively amplified here. I believe this to be a game changer that will easily alter or at least question the negative perception of the band. this is an outstanding piece of work aside from the black sheep inclusion of anti-vist that has absolutely no business being mixed in with the overall atmosphere. in a nutshell this is what eager fans had been hoping for all this time and cynical naysayers would never expect to happen in a million years from bring me the horizon.

After listening to this album it is very obvious that Bring Me the Horizon were influenced by Linkin Park's album,
"Hybrid Theory". But then again, who isnt, its the best album of all time.

An impressive effort from BMTH, who continue to progress and improve with every album. I
personally feel this is the album that will end the outright hate of them. While Oli's
vocals occasionally feel like they're going to break, they've also improved. They delivered
on the promise of including more post-rock influences into their music, along with
electronica and other genres. The only song that doesn't quite fit on here is "Anti-vist"
which reminds me of a Fox and the Wolf rewrite that would be a better fit on previous
albums. It's still a solid song, but doesn't really fit the theme of this album.
"Sempiternal" is going to be a gamechanger, though, and from a band nobody expected.
tl;dr version: BMTH includes post-rock and chilly waves of electronica to add to their
signature metalcore sound.

Just saw this compared to a 2.0 version of Metallica. Threw up a little bit. Now that's all good and fine if you're willing to throw the band into the same boat. But, as far as it goes LULU looks impressive when compared to this. Changing the recipe slightly does not change the fact that cheese and chalk should never be put on the same plate.

Immediate reactions are that this is a contender for AOTY and I hope that people realise this and actually buy the album. This is not the worst record I have heard these guys produce. You might say I have a softspot for them, but being realistic the musicianship really isn't that much above average. To add to that the songs seem to lack any real character. Love it or hate it, it's an ok listen that's not really going to stay with anyone for very long.

The album's solid as a whole, and "Can You Feel My Heart" is pretty much the best opener they've ever written. The only downside is "Anti-Vist" which comes off as an angsty song written when Oli was 12 (with lyrics like "To that, I say you're a cunt."), and it disrupts the flow of the album. The album closer "Hospital For Souls" is great though.

Unbelievable album. Stunning atmosphere and emotion and phenomenally consistent. The inclusion of keyboards, strings, and half-scream/yelled vocals bring this to a whole new level. With the exception of Anti-vist, great lyrical content as well. Tracks 3-7 are the highlights, with tracks 10-11 bringing the album to a close extremely well.

BMTH's first two albums were poor but There is a Hell... was much improved with many standouts. Sempiternal, however, is a step back. Hampered by weaker melodies, overtly generic lyrics and cheesy all-in choruses. A few good tracks like "Sleepwalking" but their last album was more consistent, melodic and emotive whereas this feels forced and gimmicky.

Honestly, I didn't like Bring Me The Horizon for a while, especially because of the Olly Sykes fangirling bullcrap going around. rBut to be honest, I gave the single "Shadow Moses" a chance, and it really blew me away. "Anti-Vist" blew me away even more, and I now listened to the whole album. rFor me, it's like a whole new start of Bring Me The Horizon, they sound totally different, especially the drums. rGotta say, these guys improved radically. Totally worth to listen to.

What makes this album so great is that it builds upon the momentum of There Is A Hell. The large atmospheric and electronic vibe, as well as the addition of a fairly large amount of clean vocals (all done by Sykes himself for the first time) show the band finally finding their identity.

Excellent electronics (and that is something coming from someone who HATES electronics). There is a Hell does seem better still to me, but maybe this one will grow one me like that one did. Personally, most of the songs sound like better keyboards on their previous album's songs and the tracklist seems kind of lopsided with medium heavy tracks, two or three really deep atmospheric ones, and a hardcore anthem in "antivist." I was hoping for more atmosphere in this one, but its certainly not bad. Still deciding whether this is a "4" or a "3.5"

A very different sound compared to what we've heard from BMTH in the not too distant past. In particular the production seems a lot more atmospheric and Sykes' vocals seem to have more of a range than usual. There are a lot of songs on here that I could say are the band's best: 'The house of wolves', 'Empire (let them sing)','Shadow Moses' and 'Crooked young', the latter of which making for a very nice sound using symphonic sounds and consequently giving off a classical feel. If this is the direction the band are heading in, I have no doubt that I will become a bigger fan than ever before.
