There just feels like there is something missing from this album. I think the big thing is that Cove's vocals, while his pitch and voice are great...he just doesn't vary/do enough with his melodies and meters. Another thing is that it feels like A. Rod's drumming is a lot more harnessed on here. I miss the more creative and less predictable patterns of the Translating the Name EP. Finally, there is hardly any screaming on this album. It's not missed a whole lot, but there are moments that would really be heightened and accented if punctuated with a scream. Not that it's a bad album...The guitar work is fun and the band is extremely tight. Cove's vocals are very good and the cd as a whole is extremely catchy.

An amazing blend of fantastic musicianship (especially drums, but guitars as well), great vocals, stirring choruses, catchy hooks, head-banging guitar riffs. This album picks you up from the very first song and never lets you down.

Though might be too glossy/radio friendly for some-Saosin's debut album is an incredible piece of work. All the musicians are front line here with the pulsating rhythm section, the metallic guitar licks, and Cove's soaring vocals which are embellished in some of the most gorgeous harmonies you'll ever hear. It's the kind of thing that when listened to during the right mood the music just soars and takes you into the stratosphere. The only weak points here are the clunky Collapse and the over-dragged balled Your Not Alone. Otherwise-an incredible listening experience which can be sonically explosive at times.

I think that this album is great, but I think that Saosin will never be the same without Anthony Green. That's nothing against Cove Reber because a lot of bands would be better with Anthony Green. He's just a great singer, one of the best of the 21st century. I think that they should have changed their name when they changed singers. That would be like taking the lead singer from Soundgarden and putting him in Zach De La Rocha's place and not changing the name from RATM to Audioslave, OK not quite that extreme, but still the same thing.

While Saosin's debut album is undoubtedly a good listen, it also marks that Saosin has run out of steam. The instrumentalist here aren't as hard-hitting and intricate as they were on "Translating the Name." The vocals also aren't as emotionally powerful as they were on "Translating The Name." Cove Reber was a good replacement, but could never quite fill the void left by Anthony Green's departure.

It's hard to write new and original music while trying to please your fan base at the same time, especially when your band has a new member, especially when the new member is the lead vocalist. Thankfully, Saosin aren't exactly like every other band. Sure, the band's self-titled debut did tend to upset a handful of listeners; however, that particular handful of people probably had their ears set on a purely emo / post-hardcore album instead of a rather fun collection of alt-rock influenced Saosin songs.

Sleepers, of course, is awesome. You're Not Alone is the only other song I can stand, because it allways had a great uplifting effect on me. Other than that Saosin started to suck with Anthony Green leaving.

Saosin is defiantly in my top 5 all time favorite bands, if not my favorite but this album lacked originality. While the songs all sound great I believe Saosin played it safe with this album.
Favorite songs : You're Not Alone, Collapse, and Follow And Feel.

This abum is great, i love the guitar effects and Cove Reber's vocals are almost primal, he really tugs at your heartstrings. However, when it gets nearer the end, the songs start to gte a bit samey, and a bit irritating. Best song-Voices.

This album immediately left me wishing for something more and very impressed with how tightly the music was wrapped overall. The instrumentals deserve a 4.5 with the exception that they could be just a wee bit more outside the box. Excellent nonetheless. Cove disappointed only because of his potential. I hope he grows, digs deeper within and finds his style of varying tones and creative vocabulary. I look forward.

this album is number 2 on my top 5 best albums of the year itrs simply amazing. the drummer is awsome. cove holy crap he is friggin uplifting when he sings. and the guitar players just the layers of sounds they play is incredible.

A truely awful ablum. Bland muscianship ( the drummer is the only saving grace, bassist is awful), standard emo singing, and unbelievably bad lyrics make up this stinkfest, which is compirsed of only one decent song, Follow and Feel. Steer clear of this one.
