Album production just doesn't resemble ole Rocky... When I picture A$AP Rocky, I picture some hazy ass rap with Clams Casino prod. and no songs featuring Skrillex. SMH..
I thought "Wild for the Night" would be a train wreck. Man, I was SO wrong. Overall a fun (if unremarkable)
release with some awe-inspiring production as well as a few duds; "Hell" and "Pain" nearly bring the album to
a grinding halt. Luckily we have plenty of enjoyable tracks to make up for those.
best mainstream hip hop lp this year (I am surprised!) after huge disappointment with new big boi and overrated Kendrick Lamar lp I think this record has so much better production than big boi and kendrick combined
Definitely not as good as Live.Love.Asap. It has it's good parts and it has its BAD parts. Fuckin problems and Wild For The Night probably being the two worst... but there is also some very nice moments (PMW, LVL, Hell, Pain, Train, Suddenly)rThere's a couple more noteworthy tracks and unfortunately the rest is mostly bad or just plain boring. Not nearly as consistent as his mixtape but still is better than most mainstream acts... just really really wish he would have stuck with the hazy beats instead of the more mainstream sound he's going with on this album.
Has absolutely none of the appeal of the preceding release. 'Fuckin' Problems'' highlight is God damn 2 Chainz pretending he's 50 Cent, and Kendrick Lamar saying 'dick'. Song with Skrillex makes me want to shoot myself in the temple with a dart gun and then have someone shit down the wound
Lacks the urgency of Live.Love.ASAP. Record comes to an absolute halt after the two Clams Casino songs (both exemplary, by the way.) Rocky's rapping has marginally improved. Too many filler tracks kill the cohesiveness of the record. Rocky has traded much of the cloud rap production for beats with a wider appeal. Schoolboy Q has the best verse on the record on "PMW". Overall, needs more Clams and less Skrillex and "F'n Problems".
Overall consistently quite enjoyable with a couple tracks set aside, but it confuses me that it's not quite on par with LiveLoveA$AP. Or it's a slow burn and I'll be changing my mind in a week. Still awesome.
