In Young Mountain, This Will Destroy You creates a bleak soundscape full of jittery synth and solemn, echoey guitars. One can close their eyes and see themselves on a snowy peak, alone, and every sound made fading into nothingness. I feel insignificant and distant when I listen to Young Mountain, and very impressed. This is an excellent post-rock album, and will please any fan of the genre.

"Young Mountain" is post-rock gold.
With pounding drums and bass accompanied by wonderfully ambient guitars, this album will leave you smiling.

Now i am a huge fan of Post-Rock, So when i was recommended to listen to this Band from Texas i wasn't very bought by the idea. But now i look back at myself and could only dream of going back in time and telling myself that im an absolute toss-pot for having doubt's. Basically the album capture's your mind from the get-go. The Album start's with 'Quiet', an absolute delight. And then all of a sudden, 'The World Is Our ____'. As soon as i heard these two song's i was so ***ing happy to own ear's. But that's not all, because the album through out completely deliver's. It's an album for everyone really, there's some heavy bit's for your gothic 14 year old who doesn't know anything about anyone but doesn't seem to care, calming moment's for your mum or your dad who want's to escape reality for at least an hour for once. And some techno background's for anti-social bastard's/drug taking stains in our modern society. At the end of the day just order it for *** sake, you have no excuse not to listen to such quality as this band has produced.

Holy cow, its like lightning bolts of bliss entering your ears as the guitar strikes, and god is making out with your brain. This artistic masterpiece should be on the top 10 albums of this genre forever, with breathtaking tracks it leaves no room for boredom. With climaxes to top "The Birth and Death of Day - EITS" this album will fill you with that amazing soundscape sound that you have been searching google for the whole time.

Another great offering from the 'chill' post-rock subgenre. Not a phenomenal offering really, but something nice to have on in the background. Unfortunately, these generic post-rock bands don't seem to break the 4/5 barrier for me, and while this is no exception, it's still a nice listen despite being kinda draggy at points.

Young Mountain is proof that post-rock isn't quite dead yet. The band does not invent any sort of new sound or make any true advancements in the genre, they simply have the most refined and perfected post-rock sound of anyone around. Each member of the band plays with a confidence that very few bands can boast. They contrast beautiful quiet melodies and a huge wall of sound akin to Godspeed You! Black Emperor, but they are a much more cohesive unit.
