Now it's Karl's turn as he leads the band in vocals. In my opinion, he brought a great deal to the band after Jesse had left. For instance, his crushing voice is very appealing and has a stronger presence than Jesse's (opinion). As always, the band doesn't fail to amaze me with the perfect chemistry between the guitars, drums, and bass.
Great album, greater band.

When lead vocalist Jesse Zaraska parted his way from the band, Misery Signals replaced him with one, Karl Schubach and released Mirrors. Karl's voice gives the band a sort of tough guy hardcore sound like Bury Your Dead. They ambiance and meledy is still here though. Despite a few meaty breakdowns Mirrors is a decent follow up to Of Malice...

I liked this CD alot... but it was the worst MS album to me. I'd say 75% of the songs were up to par for them, but the production lacked. If the production was like either of the other two albums, and if the elements of post-rock that theyre known for were more prominent, I'd probably give it a 5. Still have been listening to this CD on an almost daily basis for like 7 years so I cant really say anything too bad about it without insulting my own taste here haha

Why oh why did you turn away from the amazing production talents of Mr. Devin Townsend!? Probably the only reason why this album isn't chillin up with "Controllers" at the 4.5 lounge is because of its less than perfect production. But hey, at least the album is so totally awesome that you almost don't mind. And its not like the production is TERRIBLE...its just underwhelming after hearing how huge Mis Sigs sounded on "Of Malice..." and knowing how amazing they sound now (after coming to their senses and going back to Mr. Townsend of course).

Mirrors is one the best metalcore albums I have ever listened too. It is more complex and layered than most metalcore, and Misery Signals does a fantastic job distancing themselves from the cliches of average hardcore.
