One of the best nu-metal albums in a long time. In a genre that rarely hits the mark, this album does. The only weakness is that Welch electronically alters his voice a little too frequently, but it is not a huge issue. For Today frontman Montgomery provides some badass screams on "I W8 4 U" as well. Other standouts are the chorus of the Abandoning, Meltdown, Fading Away, and Bruises. But most importantly, its an impressively consistent effort, almost to the point of it being a weakness. One or two more tracks like Bruises, which sounds very different from the rest of the album would make this even better, in addition to less preachy lyrics.
I had some lofty expectations after listening to the Chemicals EP, and surprisingly they were exceeded. My only issue is that the three tracks from the EP remain on this album, so there are only eight new tracks. Excellent first album from Love and Death.
Love it, been waiting a while for this album. Korn in every sense only lower tuning (!), no slap bass (unfortunately) and Head's vocals instead of Jon Davis' vocals. Best Nu Metal album in a long time.
Every song is superb except for "By the Way" which has a Nickelback-esq chorus I just don't
dig. Everything else about this album is fantastic and I feel empowered by the
inspirational lyrics. It's like the best album Korn could possibly create minus Jonathan
Davis' annoying vocals.
