If you look beyond the super edgy dick cover, there's actually an extremely good album. Harsh, dark beats and the divisive yells/raps of MC Ride twisting their way into your skull all the while. Not quite as harsh and abrasive as previous efforts, and not as many meme-worthy mantras to type in all caps, but believe me when I say this album still goes. r#NOIDED

Some solid stuff here, but Exmilitary will always be their best work. If you can ignore what is quite possibly the worst cover art ever and enjoy the previous work of Death Grips, you'll enjoy this album. However, if you've hated them up to this point, nothing on here will change your mind.

On one of the most so called controversial albums of this year, Death Grips strips down the production and becomes much more lyrically oriented. Even though there are a handful of interesting tracks, the stripped down production on this LP is really hit and miss. Though MC Ride has some very dark lyrics on this tape, the lack of interesting production and poor hooks on this really prevent it from being one of Death Grips best albums.

I'll see how this one ages for me, but at the moment I favor it over their other two easily. The production value is much higher, leaving it abrasive more in it's deep bass and heavy, guitar influenced rhythms, than in earsplitting noise. MC Ride's lyrics are at their most disturbed and his performance is more emotional and frightening than before. The group is fully realizing the image they sat out to create with Exmilitary and The Money Store.
