4.0 excellent | Toadstool | October 23rd 12 | It's safe to say that Parkway Drive is back. Dark Days gave us high hopes for a comeback record from the boys, and sure Old Ghost/New Regrets was okay, but the rest of the album makes up for that. Tracks like Dream Run and Swing show us that they didn't forget what their fans want, and they delivered. Don't know if this is as good as Horizons, but after a few more listens I'll give you my full verdict. Atlas is a much better record than Deep Blue, and any Parkway Drive will enjoy this record with open arms.

2.5 average | jakekean | February 2nd 14 | With the release of Atlas, Parkway Drive confirms that it is band unrestrained by the timeworn conventions of its genre.rThis time around, the leaders of the Australian metalcore scene are comfortable abandoning the raw mosh-ready sound that defined them in favour of a more inclusive songwriting approach. rThe benefits of this fresh method are displayed in the tracks 'The River' and 'Atlas', but the standouts are 'Dark Days', 'Wild Eyes' and 'Blue and the Grey'. These tracks exhibit a formulaic writing approach typical of Parkway Drive, but tragically put a dampener on many of the other tracks which mostly involve extravagant arrangement ideas that have potential, but never reach fruition.rWhilst the album lacked at moments and Parkway Drive's expansive songwriting attempts fell short, Atlas is a consistent album; featuring enough mechanical drumming, dynamic guitar playing and ruthless guttural vocals to keep any fan suitably amused.

4.5 superb | maninthebox | February 26th 13 | God Damn it Parkway Drive! Stop being so fucking good and making me seem like a false kvlt elite trve metalhead. I mean seriously how do these guys do it? They continue to evolve the narrow niche that is modern day metalcore and not only manage to be good but manage to write memorable unique songs I will be listening to years from now. They even make breakdowns thant are some of the freshest sounding I've heard well since the last Parkway album. Atlas doesn't serve as a testament to metalcore or any particular genre in anyway, it just serves as a testament to the amazingly creative band of Aussies that is Parkway Drive. Best Songs: Wild Eyes, The River, Atlas.

4.5 superb | JCKohl | December 31st 12 | Winston McCall has some of the best low/mid screams in metal. There are tons of different vibes on this album. Even the clean parts and "softer" sections are heavy. This is a great band full of positive aggresion, culture, chemistry and most of all, talented musicians. Some of the lyrics seem to speak directly to you as an individual. Oh, and by the way...from a guitars player: RIFFS!!!!!! Excellent guitar passages, melodic thrash riffs, viking type feels in certain parts, dripping-wet clean chords, tons of groove. LOVE IT!

5.0 classic | yeezy1156 | November 1st 12 | Most progressive sound in metalcore right now, and this is a complete masterpiece. More emotion is thrown into the screaming as shown in Blue and the Grey. Best band in the business.

4.0 excellent | RedHorizon | October 31st 12 | Another skull crushing delivery from Australia's lead metalcore titans. They could try and change/add a few things here and there (clean vocals and shredding are seriously lacking in PD's music).

3.5 great | Erwann S. STAFF | May 15th 19 | Solid generic metalcore (that's basically the definition of Parkway Drive). The last album before the great demise. Some songs are absolute generic killers (Dream Run, The River), others are yawn (Swing, Blue and the Grey).

4.5 superb | Tristan Matheny | March 29th 18 | To start off, Atlas is my least favorite Parkway release...yes even below IRE (which I love). Atlas just seems to not flow as well as their previous releases like Horizons, and KWAS. Standout tracks for me are: Sleight of Hand, Blue and the Grey, Wild Eyes, Dark Days, Swing, The River, and Dream Run. I cannot quite put my finger on as to why this album is my least favorite, but it seems to be the hardest to get through for me personally. No song is bad, or skip worthy, but I find myself not enjoying this album as much as their other albums. Still recommended.

4.5 superb | MaidenUFO | February 20th 16 | Absolute great metalcore record. Many great songs here like "Wild Eyes", "The River", "Sleight of Hand" and "Blue and the Grey", but my favorite is "Dark Days"....This song is more than a masterpiece, killer track, my favorite by them!

5.0 classic | liekmothstoflames | February 20th 14 | This shouldn't work. As much as this album and August Burns Red's latest resemble each other, this album just barely comes out on top for me.

3.5 great | InFiction | November 3rd 13 | Parkway Drive's songwriting skills have improved tenfold with Atlas, and the experimentation with guest vocals and orchestral arrangements make this quite an enjoyable metalcore record.

4.5 superb | Peto2811 | March 17th 13 | Very innovative sound with new elements, which make this album awesome. Fresh sound, dynamic and slower songs full of emotions Great combination of what Parkway Drive is

3.5 great | Alex C. | January 30th 13 | The disc you wouldn't expect from breakdown masters Parkway Drive. Never thought bro-core could sound mature-ish.
Bump |
4.0 excellent | MasBarHigeuoris21 | November 14th 12 | This is easily the best metalcore record I have heard so far this year
Bump |
3.5 great | TooLateToGoBack | November 7th 12 | The few tracks that at least try to deviate from the typical tough-guy metalcore (Atlas, The River, and Blue and The Grey) - end up being the absolute highlights of another run-of-the-mill metalcore album. Take note, Parkway, that expermination can actually go a long way.

0.0 | Surtur | October 31st 12 | Really wanted to like this, especially after the epic opener that is Sparks, but Parkway are just constantly regressing.

2.0 poor | Tonger | October 30th 12 | I guess if you like the Parkway Chug-A-Lug, then you'll like this. Agree on it better than Deep Blue though.
Bump |
4.0 excellent | MegaJake1024 | October 30th 12 | Would still love to see Parkway change it up and throw in some cleans every once and a while, but they pretty much hit on everything else. Some sick riffs on here. Great stuff.

0.0 | OUCHmyThumb | October 26th 12 | I always had mixed feelings about this band. However, this new album made me realize why people say that PWD is one of the best metalcore bands out there; and now I can agree. Atlas, an excellent release.

Bump |
5.0 classic | XArcanumOrderX | October 25th 12 | This album is a masterpiece. This review is completely idiotic and bashes the parts of parkway drive that they are known for. Boring breakdowns? Shut up. Parkway has evolved while keeping a firm grip on what they came from

3.5 great | JordanMonday | October 5th 12 | "Dark Days" is an incredible single. Looking forward for "Atlas" to come out.
Bump |
3.5 great | NeoSpaz | October 4th 12 | The single was bland and boring. The lyrics were a step up thankfully. Hopefully Dark Days as a whole is better than that song.rReflection from later on: This album really has brought their game back. Yeah, it's still too lethargic, the songs rely on breakdowns (a bit less thankfully) but goddammit if songs like Blue and the Grey and Atlas do not slay. Really brings an all round performance to the table.
