Well this is a letdown. Technically impressive and all but we've heard this before, plenty of times.

Mix Textures and any random Sumerian band and this is basically what you get. 90% of this album is awful.

If the rest of the album is as good as the single, or tops it, this will be quite an unexpected treat.

Despite the recent backlash caused by the implosion of the band, "Disclosure" is a great -core album, with a good production and great ideas.. Lyrics are the weakest part of an album that would otherwise deserve 4.0.

There is so much I have to say about this album but I don?t know where to start. This is an absolute masterpiece of an album. I never listened to The HAARP Machine before they released "Pleiadian Keys,' but after I heard that song I instantly pre-ordered the album. I was anticipating that album for weeks and it did not disappoint once I finally got my hands on it. It delivered and then some. Mike Semesky is one of the best vocalists that I have heard in a long time. When I listened to "Esoteric Agenda" the first time, I literally got chills when his clean vocals entered at 1:19. I rewinded the song three times just so I could hear that part, and that is just the first song on the album. I get those chills every time I listen to the title track as well. Semesky's vocals on that song prove that he is the vocalist of the year. I would also have to say that the title track is the song of the year. It is so hard to associate a genre with this band because the whole album switches from technical to progressive. You have songs like "Lower the Populace," "From Vanity to Utility," and "The Escapist Notion," which shows the band's technical side. Then you have songs like "Pleiadian Keys," "Disclosure," and "Machine Over," which makes you think that this is a progressive band. The instrumentation behind Semesky is amazing with Alex Rudinger being one of the best drummers out there, Al Mu'min bringing some unbelievable guitar work to the album, and bassist Oliver Rooney adding to the already astonishing musicianship on album.

This is basically your typical Sumerian Records album: lots of impressive guitar work (definitely the best aspect of this album), math-defying drumming patterns (courtesy of former Threat Signal skin crusher Alex Rudinger), vocals that range from metalcore-esque growls and screams to flailing cleans, and lots of changes in time signatures. It will sound impressive if you have yet to know the kingdom of Sumerian Records. However, if you are already accustomed to said kingdom, this will not really stand out to you. Unless you are able to appreciate snippets of middle-eastern sounds placed here and there.

clicked the wrong number lol. Anyways, this album has to be one of my favorites coming from sumerian, just because yes it is your run of the mill proggy techmetal but they play it so well, and they create these emotions and ambience within the songs that just launch it right up there with bands like the contortionist or Periphery.

After listening to it a few more times, i realized that there isn't much to latch onto. The song writing is sub par, leaving the album in the "nothing I haven't heard before" territory. I think this band has potential to write a great album, but this is not it.

My first review on Spuntikmusic hopefully this works out.

The HARRP machine is a progressive metal band from the U.K. A lot of people including myself are looking forward to this album and if it can wow us away like the single that was released a while ago. Let's see how it fairs?

The production on this album is top-notch and precise and masterful very riff and drum beat can be heard with the best quality. The vocalist has excellent to superb clean vocals very mellow in a way. His screams are not mind-blowing but they get the job done. The Guitar work is very technical and not to flashy (i.e Marc Okubo from Veil of Maya). The use of syths in this album are used very tastefully but not overdone alot of the time it reminds me of African/Persian music it adds a more majestic feel to the album.

Now, here is the bad parts although this album is very short for a first debut(8 songs). There is not much here to dive into at times i personally found it lacking. About four songs in the structure of the song tend to blend into each other and becomes predictable. I wish the use of clean vocals was more present than his growls and change of style for each individual song could be a plus.

Ultimately this is a let down but it's still solid work to any techie fan. 3.5/5
Check it out

Very tight, proggy, and core-ey. The layering of guitar, sitar, and some other instrument that's foreign (name escapes me, too lazy to google) is brilliant. The vocals are also exceptional. Very memorable moments layered throughout.

Agreed. From the previews and clips I've heard this sounds very promising!
