I'm going to be typical and just say that I prefer "Human" over "Scream Bloody Gore," but this album has something special too. I will say that people who gave poor ratings on the Death albums because they did not enjoy the lyrical content really need to focus on every single part of an album rather than just throwing down a 2 or lower because their priests don't enjoy the albums.

Since Scream Bloody Gore, Death has grown immensely. Their first album was seminal to the creation of the death metal genre, but considering what they have done since, it looks a bit pale in comparison. A consistently savage, heavily distorted guitar assault combined with Schuldiner's (also underdeveloped) menacing screams makes up for a lack of variation, as many of the riffs end up sounding the same, and the drumming patterns don't seem to change whatsoever. It was luckily only the beginning of better things to come, but gets bonus points for influence.

"The Evil Dead" is a great song, but "Scream Bloody Gore" is just too primitive (and outclassed by later Death albums) to warrant repeated listens.

Slightly above average mainly due to zombie ritual. This is underproduced and mediocre at best for the majority of its run time although there is no denying its influence and that it was a groundbreaking album so one cant be too harsh on Scream Bloody Gore. When stacked up against everything else the band has done however this just can't cut it

This is where it all begun for Death and the genre itself. But even by modern standards, this stands out with its excellent riffs and quite consistent songwriting. For me this was the introduction into the genre, and this still rules.

Dude I can't fucking help it, this is def a 4.5, it is similar to alot of other death metal albums out there, but here is the thing, this is the original master piece right here, and while it is definitley not Deaths best album it fucking deserves a 4.5. Plus every song is awesome and seriously fuckin catchy: Infernal Death, Zombie Ritual, Denial of Life, Regurgitated Guts, Sacrificial, Baptized in blood, and Evil Dead.

Possessed's Seven Churches come first but Scream Bloody Gore gave a little step forward into a new genre: Death Metal. An extreme influential record to thousands of extreme bands worldwide. My favourite tracks here are Zombie Ritual and Evil Dead.rDM essential and classic.
