Looking back to a few months ago, it is really telling why Converge chose to cover Entombed's "Wolverine Blues". Basically outside of a couple of songs like "Aimless Arrow" and the title track, All We Love We Leave Behind is Converge's tribute to sludgy, Discharge-influenced early 90's Swedish metal. With Kurt Ballou building walls of riffs instead of portraits of noise this time around, it gives drummer Ben Koller the chance to take center stage and power the album with his kit. All in all, it is an impressive offering from arguably the most consistent band in the hardcore scene. While it isn't necessarily their best, it certainly is a beast of a record.

Still the hardest band in modern hardcore punk music, All We Love We Leave Behind
mostly shows that Converge are just as consistent in quality as they are in their sound.
This album doesn't fail to deliver the audio pummeling fans expect to be served, but tweaks
the formula slightly with stylistic variations such as instances of melodic post-hardcore
vocals this time around to avoid wearing their sound thin. All We Love We Leave
Behind isn't as heavily ambitious and out of the band's comfort zone as their previous
outing Axe to Fall, and the sound it does present isn't still at the ground-breaking
status that it once was, but the album is still as effective as the band's best work for all
of the same reasons every prior Converge album is as effective as it is, and fans will love
it for every reason they love Converge's typical psychotic assault of gritty, thrashing, and
calculated heaviness, and it doesn't come close to disappointing in that regard.

Downloaded this knowing it wasn't my cup of tea. Surprisingly it wasn't as bad as I thought. This is a brutal album, and hard to sit through in one listen, but it is clear these guys are talented. Most of the songs were not my style, but a couple I enjoyed. "All We Love We Leave Behind", "Aimless Arrow", "Tresspass" and a few others are pretty good. Still not my favorite type of music.

Hoooly Shiit, On All We Love We Leave Behind Converge proves once again that they are one of the best bands in all of Metal by upping the fury and chaos a solid two rungs. Throughout the whole album the main theme Converge is trying to convey is loss and the sadness and then absolute anger that comes with it. This is done insanely well as track by murky desolate track rushes by at break neck speed while at the same time carrying enough wait to knock some teeth out. While not as iconic as Jane Doe or the just as off the wall Axe to Fall All We Love We Leave Behind still stands as a testament to the raw chaos incarnate that is Converge. Best Songs:Coral Blue,Trespasses, and the Title Track.

With superb song concepts, lyricism, production, and musicianship, Converge puts out one of their best albums to date. It's as heavy as Jane Doe at points, and as versatile as Axe to Fall on others. With tons of different kinds of genres being mixed into this album, this album is diverse as it gets for Converge. Not only is this album diverse, but it also contains lots of standout tracks to keep it from being too held down by the weak ones. Even though there are a small handful of tracks that had nothing special going on for them on this LP, AWLWLB still lives up to the hype and remains on of my favorites of 2012.

A faster You Fail Me? An Axe To Fall with more sneering punk tendencies? This album is
both of those things and so much more. Perhaps it will still take some more time to connect as emotionally
with the material here as with the quintessential Converge album Jane Doe (simply because there is
just an incredible amount of music to parse through here!), but All We Love We Leave Behind stands
as one of the band's best, most deranged, and ferocious records.
