| 0.0 | Adam Thomas EMERITUS | November 15th 12 | In theory Being As An Ocean should be cool. should. Unfortunately none of the ideas blend together well and the "this sounds like some bullshit on Mediaskare" super sterile and compressed to bits production makes the war of ideas even more evident. It's sort of like on that one episode of The Simpsons when a hurricane demolished Flanders' house. Lots of good intentions, but my family and I can't live in good intentions, Marge.

| 1.5 very poor | Dan Schultz | October 31st 12 | I don't see the hype with this band. I really just find it really repetitive and really boring and it just sounds like a bunch of metalcore kids just discovered Defeater.

| 2.5 average | taxidermist | October 26th 12 | Though Being as an Ocean definitely is on the right track with their influences, they seem to just try and combine/emulate their sounds into one big package, and come out being very derivative. Though the vocalist has a pretty honest sounding shout, a lot of the lyrics on the album sound very contrived and sometimes laughable. Lyrics such as 'Lying awake in bed, feeling the spot on my chest where you used to rest your head' automatically comes to mind as a perfect example. The 'singing' is rather pointless and not very good/well placed, and the 8r00t4l lows feel out of place on the album.

| 3.0 good | Aaron LaClair | March 5th 13 | Different in a way that combines traits of screamo-revival bands of the 2010s with the beaten to death post-hardcore sound. Obviously there is potential but on this there's very little to look back to.rP.S. lose the Listener imitation and stick to screaming and singing, it's actually pathetic how similar the voices sound.r

| 2.5 average | Micah-Nahum Ferguson | January 7th 13 | BAaO shows promise in their ideas, but the execution is far less than exciting or memorable. Though the album has its moments and its lyrics offer great messages, the themes grow tiring and the genres they try to combine just get muddled somewhere throughout. The album seems to meander more than it does accomplish much of anything.

| 2.5 average | KosherSoldier | November 5th 12 | I hear the passion and I feel the emotion, but I just don't care for it. The band is its best in the heavier parts of the record. Yet they rely on spoken word verses that are just too ambitious and fall flat on every attempt. Would've been best as an EP.
