The guitar leads are stunning, they range from totally badass to amazingly beautiful, the guitar work adds so much emotion to the music... it's just fantastic.
The vocals are the most polarizing part of this album, if you like this genre you'll probably love every other aspect, but I know the vocals rub some people the wrong way. I've always enjoyed Ricky and his unique vocals, he adds more range to his harsh vocals here and I personally enjoy all of it, his lyrics are great, and his voice carries a lot of urgency.
The ONLY flaws I could find on the whole album were the clean sections. Some of these vocals don't fit well with the band's sound at all, but they're short and easy to get passed.
I love this album. Fear not, fans of TOTA, this album destroys. Melodic Metalcore doesn't really get better than this.

Having had a full listen, the guitar work is simply outstanding. Technical, clean and bordering beautiful at moments. The lead work is some of the best I have heard in the genre. Vocal performance is also hugely improved aside from the odd misplaced clean vocal. In all honesty though, this is totally driven by the technical majesty of This Or The Apocalypse's rguitarists.rAlbum must be heard for any fans of metalcore.

@Tijnmans: I honestly can't tell if you're trolling or just really dumb. Opinions are opinions but man, these lyrics are VERY strong, and there are only a few clean passages, and instrumentally it absolutely destroys. If you actually liked them before and you hate this then I just have to assume that you're not quite right in the head.

The first song on this album and A Damn Moment.... Holy shit. Agreed with the clean vocal
sections being sub-par. Rick's range as a screamer doesn't really justify the use of any
vocal melody. Leave that shit up to the guitarists.

As far as I'm concerned, this is as good as metalcore gets. The guitar work is phenomenal,
the drumming, while not as good as Grants, is still on par with the majority of metalcore
drumming, and Ricky's lyrics are way more personal and he gives his most emotional
performance yet.

How is this anything different than the rest of all the other metalcore bands out there? I had faith in TOtA due to their previous releases, but this is substandard for me. They seemed to abandon their old school metal guitar edge and make an overdone and generic album that goes nowhere.

What the fuck have they done?! They just wasted all their potential as a band. Where are the thoughtfull and complicated lyrics? What's up with the pointless breakdowns and clean vocals?!
@XplaugeX: Their previous lyrics were up there with shai hulud and they were for me one of the best parts of the band. They were toned down a little for the second album but they were still pretty good. These new lyrics are just all survice and no dept what so ever. I also love that you don't adres my other two points but whatever. If I don't like this album and I liked the previous ones that makes me at least critical and not a fanboy who showers releases with 5.0's.
