If I had to pick one band that is doing the least in progressing the genre, it would be a close race between rExplosions in the Sky and Mono. But what Mono lacks in originality (this is the exact same album they've rreleased over and over again) they make up for with their dramatic and emotive delivery. Bland, uninspired, rand derivative, "For My Parents" isn't going to change anyone's opinions on this band, but am I a sucker for rdem climaxes.

Couldn't help but cringe during some of those crescendos. The title suggests this album might have some personality, but it's utterly lifeless and dry. blegh.

more of the same but less. tepid, linear and without what made what mono so formulaic before forgiveable. it does very little outside what your every day hollywood soundtrack would do. :[r""For My Parents" isn't going to change anyone's opinions on this band, but am I a sucker for dem climaxes." what climaxes? this album barely even utilizes any real or satisfying climaxes, which is one of my biggest issues with it. ]:

I can't begin to understand what it was they were trying to convey with this album. I was a huge fan of Hymn to the Immortal Wind, but this just seemed underwhelming in comparison.

Nobody listens to Mono for something radically different from the post-rock norm. I think it's wise that we keep this in mind.

This album sounds like the end of the formula Mono has been using for the past few releases. Which I think is a good thing as they should be pursuing different textures and sounds.

This album is nothing short of a masterpiece. Mono better themselves with each and every album and "For My Parents" proves it. This album is uplifting, devastating, mesmerizing, poignant, and absolutely breathtaking. Words feel inadequate to describe this musical experience. More of the same, but when the same is consistently this beautiful, why would you even want change at all. Record is more comparable to Explosions In The Sky then any of their previous records. Unseen Harbor may be my song of the year at this point
