For some reason, after listening through Southern Air for the first time, I was a bit underwhelmed. After listening another time, it has become one of my favorite albums. From Awakening to the title track, and even the Fix You Coldplay cover, Southern Air is Yellowcard's best album since Ocean Avenue, and may even surpass it.

Wow. It really pays off to grow up. Yellowcard releases an excellent album here that shows haw the band has really matured and hardened over the years. The lyrics run the emotional gamut but always either bring a smile or a tear effectively. The music is pop-punk at its finest, as usual, as well. An all around ecellent record.

Yellowcard continues their trend of great album, relative dud of an album in sequence. Southern Air has five good to great songs, and five mediocre to poor songs, including the worst song of their career, "Here I Am Alive". Luckily the good slightly outweighs the bad, enough to keep them relevant for another album cycle, which will see them inevitably produce another great album on the next outing.

With a solid handle on the insane concept known as emotion, catchy instrumentals (most notably the violin), strong vocals and meaningful lyricism. Yellowcard's "Southern Air", brings back an almost nostalgic feeling of times past, present and to come in the future. It's not often that an album has the inherent ability to make one pander into his own memories, regardless of the relevancy to the message in the songs overall.

Great album. Yellowcard never disappoints. Not as good as Lights and Sounds in my opinion (My favorite YC), but still an excellent album that I thoroughly enjoyed listening to. Every song is unique and different from the rest, yet the whole album has a distinct sound that groups all the tracks together. Great album, I highly recommend it.
