From behind clumps of trees in the distance a railway train came past, all the carriages were lit up, the windowpanes were certainly let down. One of us began to sing a popular catch, but we all felt like singing. We sang much faster than the train was going, we waved our arms because our voices were not enough, our voices rushed together in an avalanche of sound that did us good. When one joins in song with others it is like being drawn on by a fish hook.
So we sang, the forest behind us, for the ears of the distant travelers. The grownups were still awake in the village, the mothers were making down the beds for the night.
Our time was up. I kissed the one next to me, reached hands to the three nearest, and began to run home, none called me back. At the first crossroads where they could no longer see me I turned off and ran by the field paths into the forest again. I was making for that city in the south of which it was said in our village:
"There you'll find queer folk! Just think, they never sleep!"
"And why not?"
"Because they never get tired."
"And why not?"
"Because they're fools."
"Don't fools get tired?"
"How could fools get tired!"

An album that was inevitable to be a bit worse than Merriweather or Feels, almost half rthe rsongs did not phase me at all and they've gotten a lot more annoying than they used to be rwith a lot more psychedelic synth and drum sounds being shot out at you in every direction. rAlso, they've largely abandoned the folk influences that have been present on every album rprior and it has a tiny lack of catchiness that the previous albums had.rNow saying this, it is a pretty great album when it does have it's moments. Songs like rToday Supernatural, MoonJock, Monkey Riches, Pulleys and Applesauce really highlight this ralbum greatly. While the song Wide Eyed is good, there's a continuous feel of boredom and rlack of cohesion with the next 2 songs that follow. I'd also would've liked the last song on rthe album to have the same effect that made the finisher on the previous album "Brother rSport" (Brother Sport being my favorite Animal Collective song) made me feel, the album as a rwhole is pretty damn good, but it could've been a lot better and because I had such high rexpectations because of Merriweather it slightly decreased the enjoyment level of the album.

On repeated listens most of this has worn off quite a lot. Wide Eyed, Mercury Man, and

Animal Collective is still the spastic, charming band that fans love and music still continues to be an art to them; but at times their new album feels like a pinball machine that won't let the ball fall into the drain. That being said, this is still a great album that should be a test for the millions who have followed them for so long.

I really liked the songs on this album but my main flaw was I felt the mixing and production on repeated listens was a little flat. It didn't have that embossed sort of mixing I like to hear and even the elements or sounds that took the front stage didn't really tickle my ears or do much to make me smile. I still think Animal Collective are great and I definitely felt this was a good album but not their best.

Animal Collective has finally broken down to the point where they are throwing random shit together with no rhyme or reason...they always had eclectic taste and advanced atmospheric qualities, but this album is just directionless. The talent is there, but it is squandered throughout Centipede's mindless meandering.
