Excellent piece of modern technical death metal with blistering moments like "Subjected to a Beating", "In the Trenches", "Devout Atrocity" or "Revisionist Past".
DF returns with one of the most brutal death metal releases i've listened in a long time.. there's huge coherence in this record, the solos have a melodic death metal appeal. Dying Fetus just established the Supreme Reign of 2012 Death Metal Elite.
It's Dying Fetus, so i expected this would be a good album and preordered immediately. It
arrived yesterday right on time and this album fucking kills. Easily their best work since
Destroy the Opposition. My only complaint would be the bonus track in the Limited Delux
Edition, "Dead Whores Love to Fuck". Not worth the extra money, its pretty stupid.
I absolutely love the fact that it seems Gallagher and the boys have reverted back to glory days of Fetus, while still infusing it with hints of technicality that is seemingly so popular in the scene right now.
Boy oh boy, these guys don't disappoint in the riff department. It's the dweedly dee, dweedly doo nature of most of these riffs and how they are structured that kills this album from ever being a triumph. Dying Fetus needs to drop the arpeggios and needs to ramp up the beefy riffs!
