This is slightly amusing how many negative, pointless reviews are on here. Why are you even wasting your time? Personally, periphery is definitely my favorite band and their 2nd album is what i listen to almost all day. Spencer did an AMAZING job, and so did Matt and Misha and definitely Jake on the synth, too. I mean really, if all you guys have to do all day is hate on a progressively good band, you dont know what music is. And with the "Oh my geeehd. Periphery is just trying to sound like whoever first created djent." Jesus man, if anything, Periphery is more original sounding than any band I've heard. Saying 'you cant play djent cause its copying', would get us NO WHERE in music. We'd have maybe 3 artists in entire history. Bach, Tupac, Messhuggah. LOL. I think it's sick music and really Id like to see all of you shallow low headed bastards try and sing Spencer's range or play Mishas riffs hahahahahaha

I understand Periphery aren't very well liked around here but damn, I have never seen so many spammed low ball ratings with no real reasoning. This album is, in my opinion, pretty catchy and fresh. Spencer has grown leaps and bounds since the first album and the instrumental aspect of the band has evolved to be more than just a Meshuggah clone, in fact I hear little to no resemblance between the two on this album. This is Periphery being Periphery....not Periphery being "Djent"

I wouldn't ask anybody to give Periphery a score as I did. But there is clearly no actual listening going on by those that have scored it a 2.0 or under. I don't know what else you're looking for in music. There is nothing that unsettling about this album, unless you are sincerely that offended by the album name. Regardless, there is a massive population of laymen that exist in the prog world. They display means of incredible ignorance toward the work that gets put into any album of music, especially one of this amount of density and complexity. rPlease reconsider, assholes.

Despite the horrendous album name, Periphery have produced a maturer and much more focused sophomore album which whilst has not gotten away too much from their core sound has produced much more memorable storywriting and moments throughout. Whilst it is not an entirely consistent listen what it is is a hell of a lot of fun.

A gigantic step backwards for the guys who "invented" the djent scene, so many parts that could have been avoided, so many cheesy choruses that make me shiver (in a bad way). Not even one track that stands out, just a disappointing 80 minutes monolith. Sadness.

A solid instrumental performance that tries a little too hard and has too much going off and the vocalist really is rather poor. The screaming is generic and the cleans have way too much of an unnecessary whine to them that it feels as though he is crying half the time. The release is solid enough without the vocals.

If there's one big negative thing about having periphery in our world, its that it turns Sputnikmusic's users into a bunch of colossal faggots (and by that I mean worse than they usually are). Albums really awesome but has some filler and doesn't quite have the rhythm of their first album. Also why is This Time It's Personal in the title of the album. That was a joke make by the band that I can't believe you guys took seriously. The CD and the CD booklet don't even mention the phrase 'This Time It's Personal'. So not only are most of Sputnik's Users wankers, their also idiots too.

The first time I listened to this album, it felt completely different from the first album and I was a little disappointed, but as I started to listen to it more, I found something to love.rSame thing happened with the first album, I had no idea what I was in for, but I knew if I kept at it, I would enjoy the hell out of it.rWith this album, there's nothing I don't like. I'm pretty sure I gave their eponymousa 3.5, so II will receive the same. The main reason is because from the get go, it sounds as if Periphery 1 never ended. However, there are some reasons I tend to like this one more, but I can't put my finger on it. Granted this CD is just as long as the first one, but the fact that there's no 15 minute song on here may be it. The vocals are incredible throughout as Sotelo has become one of the best at hitting those shrieking high notes. Hopefully the next album won't be called Periphery III, because even the biggest fans will want something different every now and then.

I don't like this album as much as their debut. Spencer's vocals have improved but I do not like his new singing style. Seems like they spent less time figuring out good vocal melodies on this album than the last, albeit a few exceptions (Erised, Mile Zero). Instrumentation doesn't impress as much as the debut did, mostly because there is a lot of filler. Instead of making redundant studios and playing Skyrim, they should've spent more time trying to make a better album.

God,there are so many haters spamming low ratings. This album is amazing. While I thought the first album was also terrific, Spencer's vocals did need improvement, and improve they did. It also feels more complete as an album, and less of just a collection of songs, albeit good songs. The album is also less riff heavy, which is a good thing, because there are many points on their debut where it feels like songs are just going from riff to riff haphazardly. The high points on this album at least match the high points on the debut, and each song is more distinct and memorable. This album easily stands up to other favorites in modern metal like THA's Nocturne and PtH's Fortress.rAlso, regarding the hate on the album name, really? Is that what you're nitpicking about? How does that impact the music? Grow up. I don't see people complaining about The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza's album titles.
