  • Atari i'll definitely let you know man
    August 20 02:09 PM
  • Atari no i haven't but judging by your most recent rating of them i guess i need to check them out ;)
    August 20 12:43 PM
  • Atari yeah dude agreed it's awesome! You'd probably dig Saor - Aura as well the dude from panopticon actually does the drums for that album haha
    August 20 11:50 AM
  • Atari nice man, hope you dig them! I'd personally say to start with either suburbia or the greatest generation, but the upsides is good too, just not as good as those 2
    August 19 05:34 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges It is a bit of an elitist thing, isn't it? Look at dudes like Brostep, Sowing, and even Jombomb himself. They welcome in new users and reviewers. They don't just blow them off because of a few mistakes. Hell, look at the s*** that happened with Skele and is currently happening with Verm.
    August 19 05:26 PM
  • Atari dude if you haven't heard the wonder years yet i am beyond stoked for you haha
    August 19 05:16 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Just noticed that he actually has the flagged review for the Manners album. Now he's DEFINITELY on your s*** list, haha.
    August 19 04:06 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges I think he negged the review after saying that, lol.
    August 19 02:13 PM
  • Atari by the way since you like man overboard you might dig their compilation "the human highlight real". It's just like all their EPs made into one album i think. 'I saw behemoth and it ruled' is one of my all time favorite songs by them
    August 19 01:56 PM
  • Atari Sweet man you've been on quite the pop punk binge let me know if u want more recs
    August 19 01:28 PM
  • Atari Haha nice man! You might also dig Gospel as it's similar to oh common life. And to answer your question from earlier I like man overboard's debut, but I think their self titled is their best ;)
    August 19 11:35 AM
  • Atari yeah i really dug search the city's debut but i haven't heard it in a long time so thanks for the reminder ;) son of a gun is a jam
    August 18 07:11 PM
  • Atari have you heard any albums by them other than the new one? All I have to offer is my own confusion is great - it has detriot which is one of my favorite songs by them
    August 18 06:48 PM
  • beachdude42 I loved Glassjaw, I've been a letlive. fan for a while and it's awesome to see where some of their influence came from. I just listened to Say Hello to Sunshine recently and was blown away, I couldn't believe it's the same band that did What It Is to Burn. People compared that album to Glassjaw a lot in the comments so that's what made me check out Glassjaw.
    August 18 06:36 PM
  • Atari lol yeah i think the vocals on fireworks seem to be an acquired taste for a lot of people. When I get around to it i'll check neck deep and i'll give state champs another go haha
    August 18 06:22 PM
  • VheissuCrisis Here's my breakdown of Manners, finally. 4/5 albeit on the lower side of a 4, but those lyrics are so crushing and heartfelt that I found it hard not to bump it because of how it made me feel. From Rent onwards the album gets really strong. Rent, Legacy, particularly the ending of Binge and the final track are probably my favourite moments here. Best hardcore album I've heard in a fair while!
    August 18 04:56 PM
  • beachdude42 Will do man... right now I'm listening to a bunch of classic post hardcore albums I never checked out. Just finished with Glassjaw's discography and now I might check out some classic Thrice.
    August 18 04:36 PM
  • Atari nice man! I love fireworks they actually remind me of NFG. State Champs is good but I don't love them, and I haven't heard neck deep yet
    August 18 03:41 PM
  • Atari hey man if i remember correctly you dig new found glory. You should check out the music video for their new song 'Selfless'. It should be one of the first things that pops up on youtube if you just search "new found glory". Can't get the song out of my head haha
    August 18 03:23 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges I posted my second electronic review ever today.
    August 18 10:23 AM
  • beachdude42 Hmm okay, what would you recommend?
    August 17 08:17 PM
  • beachdude42 Thanks man, appreciate it. You're a great writer yourself. It seems you're more into heavier stuff than me however, I'm trying to get more into metal... got any recs for death metal or similar stuff?
    August 17 06:00 PM
  • Brostep haha thanks, much appreciated
    August 16 03:04 PM
  • Jom tinypic doesn't work for me - if you can get it onto imgur I can have a better look. No guarantees, though, depending on the .gif's filesize.
    August 16 12:41 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot actually scratch that, don't really feel like reviewing Xothist lol. I honestly don't know where to begin with this
    August 16 11:22 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot on a different note, I think your rotten species review could be a *bit* more detailed... I didn't really get much from it, other than it being a good grind EP. Again, it's a well written, concise review, but maybe just a bit more as to what makes it worth a listen, and what you felt listening to it...
    August 16 10:35 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot yeah I think I'm gonna pump out my Xothist review today, which I think a few people on here are stoked about... I'd rec that if you haven't heard it already
    August 16 10:06 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot thanks dude, I've been sticking with new releases for the most part, but obviously have a better shot at getting featured if they're from already successful bands... it's a cruel world lol.
    August 16 10:01 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot I'd like to, yeah. Gotta build up a repertoire I guess, and review more albums that people actually care about lmao. It'd be a long shot if I applied this Feb, but maybe next..
    August 16 09:51 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot Do you think you'll be contrib at some point? You're probably one of the more consistent reviewers on here
    August 16 09:27 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot Yeah man, appreciate the kind words. I do throw more commas than necessary, so I'll keep an eye on that. Thanks!
    August 16 09:05 AM
  • Brostep absolutely haha. my next review should be a flat 3.0 though
    August 15 07:12 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot ... :)
    August 15 06:36 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges No prob. What gif are you gonna pick?
    August 15 04:47 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges I uploaded it to tinypic and asked Jom to change it for me.
    August 15 03:43 PM
  • Betray Yeah. I think I have Red. White. Green and This World Is Ours at .5 higher. They're not the greatest band ever by any means, but the older ones are fun. Check This World Is Ours first, if you dig it, try out R.W.G.
    August 15 01:48 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges It's finally up. Feel free to let me know how it turned out!
    August 14 01:39 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot hey man, definitely wouldn't mind some more feedback
    August 13 07:45 PM
  • VheissuCrisis Its the voice bro, no matter how much I enjoy the songwriting his voice just grates on me haha.
    August 13 04:28 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges It's for a band called King 810. Listen to "Anatomy 1:1" for a laugh.
    August 13 10:40 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges It's probably gonna be either a 1 or a 1.5, so expect some degree of rantiness.
    August 13 10:17 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges I'm actually currently in the process of writing my first negative review.
    August 13 10:10 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges I'm gonna review one of my favorite (if not my favorite) albums ever for 100, and my least favorite for number 101.
    August 13 09:56 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges Ah, a personal review. Sweet. I already have a plan for reviews 100 and 101, haha.
    August 13 09:54 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges 50 reviews and a 100% approval rating. Fantastic. Got anything big planned?
    August 13 09:32 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges Will do. You're only 7 reviews away from 50!
    August 13 08:48 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges You think I'd dig?
    August 12 11:02 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Dat Norma Jean soundoff.
    August 12 04:56 PM
  • Atari no way man i don't think that's goofy at all... I can't even imagine how hard that must have been (and still is) to go through. If you dedicate a review to him for your 50th, i'm sure it would be one of your most passionate and meaningful reviews to date!
    August 12 01:46 PM
  • Atari damn dude that's rough :/
    August 12 01:20 PM
  • Atari hmmm i'll definitely have to check them out if they're similar to august burns red! and yeah man deark jack is a pretty cool movie/documentary about andrew mcmahaon's struggle with leukemia but it's prolly more inspirational than it is depressing
    August 12 12:33 PM
  • Atari hey man late response but nah i haven't heard of forevermore they pretty cool? By the way i just noticed your jack's mannequin soundoff and i'm just curious if you've seen the dear jack movie?
    August 12 11:37 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges I changed my profile pic in honor of him, and have been listening to nothing but Modest Mouse and Empire! Empire! for the past half hour or so.
    August 12 08:43 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges I know, man T_T
    August 11 11:06 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Dude, Robin Williams is dead.
    August 11 11:01 PM
  • Atari By the way I see u wrote another review, I'll check it out later tonight man!
    August 11 10:51 PM
  • Atari Sweet man! Which album did u check out and did u think they were slightly similar to darkest hour?
    August 11 10:43 PM
  • ASnideReturns Here's the link to the Sputnik page with all the details on it - http://www.sputnikmusic.com/bands/Ice-in-the-Sky/59659/
    August 11 06:30 PM
  • ASnideReturns Hey Signals, Insurrection and I are releasing a collab EP in November, would you be down to listen to it?
    August 11 05:04 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges I used to write a bunch of s***ty reviews for Pathology in my first month or so on here, so if they are releasing a new album, count me in.
    August 11 02:32 PM
  • ASnideReturns Thanks man!
    August 11 01:53 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges They're working on new material?
    August 11 01:24 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Lol, he/she/it resorted to racial and homophobic slurs in the other thread to try and get a rise out of people.
    August 11 10:56 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges "Don't b sad u r beautiful in yr own way"
    August 11 10:30 AM
  • Atari of course man, you deserve it!
    August 8 12:47 PM
  • Atari Sorry about last night buddy I was planning to read your review but got distracted :/ I'm definitely excited to read what u came up with I'll be reading it once I get to work!
    August 8 11:15 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges Eh, a lot of people tend to be really uptight and reluctant to throw out a 5. Me? Not so much. I have some pretty strange 5s myself.
    August 8 08:58 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges Sorry, it was well past midnight when I got your shout. I'll check it out now.
    August 8 08:06 AM
  • Atari Sweet man I'll check it out soon!
    August 8 01:24 AM
  • Ecnalzen I think Let The Future Tell The Truth is better, but that's just me.
    August 8 12:09 AM
  • Ecnalzen Metalcore with all cleans? Interesting. Sounds like it could have some similarities to I Am Abomination. You might enjoy them if you haven't heard already. Let the Futures Tell the Truth is a pretty good album. Lots of riffs and soloing action with pretty good vocals.
    August 7 09:03 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Will do. Also, I just noticed: You have practically no 5s.
    August 7 04:42 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges No, I hasn't.
    August 7 04:05 PM
  • Atari yeah i hear you man. By the way, Veritas, Aequitas is such a jam haha
    August 7 02:26 PM
  • Ecnalzen I have not. I put their album up at work the other day, and I was wondering what kind of music they were. Besides your 3.5, what'd you think of it?
    August 7 02:25 PM
  • Atari would love to see a review for it by you man. And yeah it's a little long for a metalcore album i guess but i don't think it drags too much.
    August 7 11:48 AM
  • Atari Agreed dude, I'm still surprised the vocals fit the music so well. Glad u dug it! :)
    August 7 11:11 AM
  • Ecnalzen I will look into their solo stuff and see how their other project will turn out. Have you heard OC and Apollo Brown's album Trophies? I love it. It be some good hip hoppers.
    August 6 08:03 PM
  • VheissuCrisis Well that's spot on, I'm glad you got it and others probably will too. The most important thing I tried to convey throughout was that we like to dress things up, and we don't like to look at ruin. But ruin tells brilliant stories too, of the past and all the feelings/past activities associated with it.
    August 6 02:49 PM
  • Atari Cool : )
    August 6 01:59 PM
  • VheissuCrisis Good points, with emphasis on the tact. But not everyone is alike I guess, and I respect that well enough, ain't no hard feelings. That's true - I'm interested to know actually whether you get what I meant in my opening sentence, because up until it was pointed out I assumed I'd got my point across well.
    August 6 01:53 PM
  • Atari sup man you listen to wovenwar yet? No rush i'm just curious what you think of it when you check it out!
    August 6 01:40 PM
  • VheissuCrisis Haha, you the man Mark! Appreciate the comment given the criticism it took too.
    August 6 01:04 PM
  • Ecnalzen You saw that, huh? Ha ha, I really liked it at first, but I found the lyrics to be fairly to pretty awful throughout the album. Kind of ruined a lot of the songs for me.
    August 5 07:02 PM
  • Atari nice man : ) i don't know a ton of melodeath but i can give you a few more recs. If you haven't heard in flames their older stuff is pretty great melodeath. Dark Tranquility is pretty great too check the gallery by them but their whole discog is actually pretty consistent. Finally, Amon Amarth is pretty fun too, can't really think of any others off the top of my head haha
    August 5 03:37 PM
  • Atari Right on, they're definitely not too similar to insomnium, just a few parts on hidden hands reminded me of them a little bit. Insomnium is strictly melodeath tho no metalcore influence. If you do check them try "Above the Weeping World" it's awesome and has a really cool atmosphere as well
    August 5 02:01 PM
  • Atari also i'm retarded i've already heard deliver us haha. Gonna jam it again though it's definitely a cool album. what you think of undoing ruin?
    August 5 01:33 PM
  • Atari sweet dude. I like how hidden hands definitely has a melodeath vibe instead of just straight up metalcore. Kind of reminds of of insomnium at times you heard them?
    August 5 01:24 PM
  • Atari oh damn, i didn't even realize you had deliver us 5'd haha. I'll check that one out next then!
    August 5 01:20 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Thanks, man. You're probably the best non-contrib reviewer right now.
    August 5 12:52 PM
  • Atari ;) by the way i've been jamming darkest hour dude. hidden hands of a sadist nation might be my favorite so far
    August 5 12:35 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges As I've said before, you, Atari, Vheissu, and Judio are good guys. You have the ambition and the work ethic to make it to the big leagues.
    August 5 12:10 PM
  • Atari just noticed you have ambient in your pie chart, that's sweet man!
    August 5 11:54 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges I could definitely see you making staff in the next few years. You seem like the type of guy who could undertake the responsibilities of staff without behaving like an immature prick.
    August 5 10:39 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges The thing is, even though staff is technically the best position on the site, there's no way I'd take it, at least not for a little bit, because I know that I'm not ready to handle the duties and responsibilities behind some of the staff position.
    August 5 10:16 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges Brendan would be great as a contributor, but I'm not sure about staff.
    August 5 09:59 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges I (fortunately) wasn't there for most of it, but all I know is something about pedophilia came up, s*** spiraled way out of control, the mods nuked it. He tried putting it back up again, same s*** happened, nuke. Then, Arcade comes and gives it a 0.5 review, makes it way too ranty and over-the-top, chaos ensues, and people get banned.
    August 5 09:29 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges I honestly don't know. Apparently, it's for similar immature s*** like the last time. Arcade got banned and demoted, along with Fripp, someguest, and sixdegrees. They'll be back in a month.
    August 5 09:02 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges So, the newest BABYMETAL review got nuked and a bunch of people got banned. Again.
    August 5 08:40 AM
  • ScuroFantasma Congratulations on the feature sig!
    August 4 08:07 PM
  • OmairSh That profile picture
    August 4 10:49 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges FEATURE BROS! **** YEAH!
    August 4 10:09 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges Congrats on the feature, man!
    August 4 09:19 AM
  • Atari Ya I hear u haha. Wasn't trying to say u don't just that it's metalcore with basically all cleans so it's prolly hit and miss for some people ;)
    August 3 06:34 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Lol, that was when I first met you. Memories......... Yeah, now that I think about it, it is a little bit difficult to get through the whole damn thing in one sitting.
    August 3 09:29 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges I gave it a 4 a while back in my fairly s***ty 2nd review, not sure if it still holds up.
    August 2 11:19 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Recent Tracks: Carnifex - Salvation Is Dead
    August 2 10:04 PM
  • Atari finally finished my review for the review a random album game if you wanna check it out! hopefully it doesn't suck lol damn writers block. Feel free to give some constructive criticism : )
    August 2 03:59 PM
  • Atari well i haven't heard their debut actually, but children of fire is pretty great. One of the singers of Oh, Sleeper is also the vocalist for the new wovenwar album which i enjoyed. It's like all clean vocals tho so not sure if you'd like that one haha. But yeah check Children of Fire!
    August 1 05:38 PM
  • Atari you heard oh, sleeper dude?
    August 1 05:26 PM
  • VheissuCrisis Second listen through and Living Will just ****ing floored me, one or two more listens till I rate but its easily 3.5 maybe a 4.
    August 1 04:01 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Man, why you gotta hit me like that in the feels? ;)
    August 1 02:47 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Honestly, I never really came onto this site expecting to become as involved and ambitious as I am now. I was just a dude who really liked metal music and really liked writing.
    August 1 02:38 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Also, I forgot about Vheissu, haha! Nah, I'm sort of in the middle where I try to be somewhat kind to newer users, but if it turns into a sinking ship, I become kind of a dickhead.
    August 1 02:29 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Nah man, there are certain people on this site (particularly Sowing, Atari, Omaha, and Judio, just to name a few) that are genuinely nice guys, and you're one of them.
    August 1 02:17 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Lol, even you have your limits. At least it isn't like that guy who posted like 10 reviews in one day a few weeks ago.
    August 1 02:08 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges I love how you're such a nice guy that you didn't even have the heart to tell the guy that his picks were s*** in the "Top Notch Deathcore" thread.
    July 31 08:47 PM
  • VheissuCrisis Only once through so far man! But a couple of tracks blew me away whilst I don't remember the rest, I'll need to hit the magic 3 spins and then I'll let you know.
    July 31 12:49 PM
  • Atari it's all good it is what it is haha. I think I just kinda fell out of the groove of reviewing when i started to write less frequently. the album is eskimo by the residents haha they're a weird band dude and all the members are anonymous. I could probabl find a lot to say about the band themselves, but describing their music is a different story...
    July 31 12:14 PM
  • Atari glad to hear it man. :] i'm actually suffering from writer's block lately which is why i'm only doing about a review a month lol. I guess right now it doesn't help that the album I'm trying to review is from the review a random album game and it's a really weird album lol
    July 31 11:54 AM
  • Atari dude, you've been reviewing like a mad man! lol
    July 31 11:42 AM
  • Judio! No prob bud, give me a couple minutes and I would be more than happy to give it a read.
    July 30 10:51 PM
  • TheMoreira Dude i just realised... You're 100% approval rating over 40 reviews. HOW ARE YOU NOT STILL A CONTRIBUTOR? Many cheers man
    July 29 01:49 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Just gave it a read. Apologies for being a little late, but I live on the East Coast, and got your shout around 11:00.
    July 26 09:10 AM
  • Judio! Sure thing man, will look it over in a little bit.
    July 26 01:21 AM
  • Insurrection didnt really care for it at all
    July 25 04:56 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges After 21 days.......... It is finished.
    July 25 02:18 PM
  • Atari Ya dude Oregon Coast is beautiful and definitely a good place to find solitude. My profile pic and avatar right now are actually pictures of cannon beach ( the place I stayed). Anyways, I definitely hope u do get contrib all that hard work's gotta pay off eventually ;) plus you've got the quality to match your consistency so I'd say your golden
    July 24 10:47 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges I've been working on reviewing Iron Maiden's first 7 albums, because **** it, I'm getting off of writer's block somehow. I've finished the review for their 2nd album. I'm just gonna proofread it a little before posting.
    July 24 06:05 PM
  • Atari nice dude i'm glad you two were able to work things out! I'm pretty good just got back from 9 nights at the oregon coast which was really nice but it sucks being back at work lol. Anyways, don't overdo it buddy, glad to see you writing more though :D
    July 24 05:39 PM
  • Atari sup man, what's new? how was your interview?
    July 24 04:04 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Aw, thanks. I might finally complete a review tonight.
    July 24 03:55 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Gandolf the Grey?
    July 24 01:48 PM
  • VheissuCrisis Glad you like it bro, it has so many highlights and I spin it about once a week still after all these years.
    July 22 04:07 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges I'm actually in the middle of writing two reviews, and I plan to write a third shortly after for the review a random album game.
    July 20 09:21 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Exactly. We pass the disease to someone that has already been on hiatus, and there's no damage done.
    July 20 08:59 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Preferably to someone like skele.
    July 20 08:54 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges How ironic is it that right after you get off of writer's block and land a feature, I fall right back into it?
    July 20 07:00 PM
  • SowingSeason Read the review for Volumes, and it's really good. I thought you described everything perfectly and the flow was decent. There's always little things, like "It's certainly all the better for it, as the soaring cleans are certainly strong enough to" which uses certainly too much, but everyone has those in their reviews from time to time. Keep it up! And congrats on the feature :)
    July 18 06:57 PM
  • SowingSeason But as long as you keep writing quality reviews, focus on new albums, and maintain a positive relationship with those around you (maturity can be a factor) you have a good chance. I promise I'll read some of your stuff later, unfortunately right now I just have enough time to check my shoutbox before work. In the meantime just stay consistent. I do have a say in promotions to both staff and contrib, so I'll keep an eye out for your reviews in the future.
    July 18 06:54 AM
  • SowingSeason Hey thelastsignal, I glanced over your review history and I can tell you the reason you didn't get contributor back in January is probably that you simply didn't have enough reviews under your belt yet. I applied for contributor in '09 with less than 25 reviews and got turned away. It's hard to make yourself stand out until you hit the 25-30 review mark in my opinion.
    July 18 06:48 AM
  • Insurrection Their best album so far imo, top notch tech metalcore
    July 17 03:13 PM
  • Insurrection Go for it, man. I'll probably be working on the new Within the Ruins
    July 17 03:06 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Every Time I Die? You glorious bastard, you.
    July 16 06:20 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges I'm actually in the middle of reviewing Iron Maiden's first 7 albums, and I got assigned Maiden Japan, which is a live album that was released literally right after the album I'm currently reviewing. Seriously, this couldn't have been better luck if the Lucky Charms leprechaun jumped out of a gold pot and wrote the review for me.
    July 13 02:29 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges How could I not? I'll give it a read after I eat lunch.
    July 13 01:58 PM
  • AnimalsAsSummit damn! just getting to it now. been busy all nigh trying to uninstall a virus. gonna check it out momentarily!
    July 9 12:58 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges Sweet. I accidentally submitted an album that I was already reviewing, haha. Judio was cool enough to switch it out, though.
    July 8 02:44 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges You gonna join in too?
    July 8 02:13 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges I've been trying to get the link to work, but it's being a little bitch and screwing up. Oh well. REGULAR TEXT FTW
    July 8 12:44 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Hey dude, how did you get that hyperlink on your review of Judio's album to work?
    July 8 10:16 AM
  • Mad. No I haven't seen those, but they're on my watchlist. Nothing wrong with loving zombie movies!
    July 8 07:11 AM
  • AnimalsAsSummit sounds sick bro, ill keep my eyes peeled for it :D
    July 7 08:08 PM
  • Mad. Probably Day of the Dead, pretty much a perfect movie imo. I haven't actually watched that many other zombie movies other than George A Romero's trilogy tbh, other than stuff like Shaun of the Dead, which is still a brilliant film
    July 7 05:01 PM
  • AnimalsAsSummit awesomeness! im glad youre enjoying it, and yes, a review would be greatly appreciated!
    July 7 03:04 PM
  • Omaha yeah man i also have needed some time to relax. sitting around today playing Ni No Kuni and it is wonderful. and thanks a lot man! been writing less lately but i feel better about the end result of whenever i do write. are you in college currently?
    July 4 12:33 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Eh, it wasn't my best piece of work, but I did try to make it short and sweet. Yours was better tenfold.
    July 4 11:22 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges Dammit sig, ya beat me to it!
    July 4 10:13 AM
  • Judio! Just checked it. An excellent write-up just like I expected, you've single-handedly made my night. And no worries, it was so worth the wait. :) It's very nice to hear that you liked my album so much.
    July 4 02:35 AM
  • Omaha not a whole lot dude. sometimes i remember how many cool folks are on this site and that i should make an effort to get to know some of them more. no plans yet besides raiding fireworks vendors like the stupid five-year-old i once was. what about you man?
    July 3 04:26 PM
  • Omaha hey man whats up?!
    July 3 04:09 PM
  • Ecnalzen Enjoy the glory: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ePhJjxCzgo
    June 28 04:59 PM
  • Ecnalzen Hey, buuuuuddy, have you heard The Ongoing Concept?
    June 28 10:10 AM
  • Atari to be honest, drifter is growing on me now haha
    June 27 04:13 PM
  • Judio! Alright, I'll give Gutter a try next chance I get. Thanks for the rec dude!
    June 27 03:25 PM
  • Judio! Yeah it's an awesome album. I actually just got into ETID, need to check there other stuff now. What's the next album by them I should check?
    June 27 03:16 PM
  • Atari well don't just take my word for it haha. I like drifter too, all their stuff is solid. I just think the new one's more fun i guess
    June 27 03:12 PM
  • Atari sounds good man. so i listened to drifter again and i gotta say, i dig their new album quite a bit more. Drifter has some great instrumentation for sure, but it's just not nearly as catchy imo
    June 27 02:55 PM
  • Atari actually i guess love, robot's debut has screaming on it too haha. Definitely let me know what you think if you check either of those bands out. Hope you're doing alright today man
    June 27 01:22 PM
  • Atari honestly you might dig heart to heart more than love, robot just because they have post-hardcore influence too i think not just pop punk. I just think their self titled debut destroys haha
    June 27 01:10 PM
  • Atari yeah, jam heart to heart as well. dulce is good but their debut is way better :)
    June 27 01:08 PM
  • Atari to be honest i haven't heard drifter enough to even rate it haha. I've heard their debut and their new album the most but i just really dig them so i'll have to give drifter a spin today. If you're looking for something similar, try love, robot's debut album rebuild / rebirth. It kicks ass
    June 27 11:59 AM
  • Ecnalzen Ah, I did not know you could do that, ha ha. That's cool (the deactivating of facebook, not that deteriorating mental health bit, that sucks). Well, if you needs to talk or something, I might be able to relate to what's going on. Just let me know. Hope you get s*** figured out soon!
    June 27 10:56 AM
  • Ecnalzen Hey, uh, did you get rid of Facebook? Pug and I were trying to find you to see if you would do a second proofreading for an interview he did, and it's like you just disappeared.
    June 26 04:52 PM
  • Atari ya man i hear you, one day at a time is the way to go. Each day brings enough to worry about so no sense stressing about tomorrow. Have you heard heartsounds newer album as well?
    June 26 04:36 PM
  • Atari hey man, i'm always here if you need to talk. btw, agreed on heartsounds that band rules
    June 26 03:19 PM
  • Judio! Thanks for saying that, man! Your promotion is right around the corner too ;)
    June 26 02:06 PM
  • Ecnalzen I tried with their first, but it was just a tough listen. Usually production doesn't bother me much, but that album does for whatever reason. I like Watch Out and Crisis about the same (both 4s). I enjoy the chaotic nature and of Watch Out, but I think the multiple vocals are utilized better on Crisis, and Dallas and George have a more even trade off.
    June 24 03:08 PM
  • Ecnalzen I might have to give it a go, too. I just listened to the whole thing straight through for the first time in my car over the last week or so. I really liked it, but I agree with your review when you said it drags in the middle a bit. You like Alexisonfire's debut, eh? I can't seem to get past the production on that album.
    June 24 12:49 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Welp, summer vacation just began for me, so I have way more free time now. I might need a little longer to come to a decision though. Nothing personal against you or anybody on the site.
    June 23 09:54 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges The main problem I have is inconsistency. I can never really get into a specific reviewing schedule, and usually the time between reviews can range from 2 days to 2 months. Also, I'm fairly new to the whole reviewing thing, so I might wanna wait until I've written a substantial amount of reviews here before moving on to other things.
    June 23 01:39 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Thanks, mate! By the way, I saw that you've actually become a staff member of Robert's (NocteDominum) review site. I'm kinda conflicted on whether or not to join.
    June 23 12:22 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Usually, the best reviewers can seemlessly go from talking about metal to talking about hip hop or ambient. And it really helps to build up your writing skills. There's a metric ****ton of DnB/Dubstep/Trance albums that don't have reviews yet, which I hope to undertake the task of writing up.
    June 23 12:14 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges It's just that it's difficult to really review ambient or electronic stuff, because you can't really describe instrumental or vocal melodies, and have to focus more on atmosphere and the overall tone of the music.
    June 23 11:18 AM
  • Ecnalzen Out of curiousity, what do you find better about Sage Francis? first album compared to Distrust?
    June 22 12:23 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges I've been trying to review electronic and hip hop albums, but I've found it to be a helluva lot harder than reviewing rock or metal.
    June 21 04:05 PM
  • Ecnalzen 18V is not well received on sputnik.
    June 20 09:44 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Dude, I've been having a MASSIVE ****ing writer's block as of recent.
    June 20 09:29 PM
  • Ecnalzen I'm starting to like older Hopesfall a little more than I used to. Any albums by those two bands in particular?
    June 19 05:28 PM
  • Ecnalzen It all started with Emery, of course, but the bands I have been trying out, and enjoying, within the last year or so are Protest the Hero, Misery Signals, Cave In, Zozobra, Poison the Well, Dance Gavin Dance, Of Machines, Dillinger Escape Plan (which has been a bit of a tough ride, ha ha), Beecher, and The Ongoing Concept.
    June 18 07:44 PM
  • Ecnalzen Pretty well! Been discovering my enjoyment of the more erratic/chaotic sides of post hardcore and metalcore. How about you?
    June 17 01:12 PM
  • Atari hell ya man best sound off ever :D glad you gave it another chance. Sorry to hear about the writer's block that sucks but it's always better not to force it if it's not coming to you. I definitely don't review as much as i used to i try to wait for an album that really hits me rather than just trying to pump out reviews lol
    June 17 11:44 AM
  • Atari hey dude looking forward to your review for judio's new album ;)
    June 14 12:10 PM
  • Judio! Cool, thanks for the man. Nothing to be sorry about either, I'm a pretty patient guy, and you don't even want to know how long it takes me to write a review lol. Anyway I'm sure it'll be worth the wait!
    June 13 01:50 PM
  • Judio! Awesome, that's exactly what I was aiming for. Instead of having a generic concept and straightforward narrative like Ganymede, I really wanted this one to have a full story going on that the listener can piece together throughout out the album. I think I spent like an hour working on the album's bandcamp description lol.
    June 5 11:21 PM
  • Judio! :D Thank you so much man! I was admittedly a bit worried you wouldn't like the album since it's totally different than Ganymede and was realy experimental for me so it's a relief to hear it came out ok! Really looking forward to reading your review dude, it's going be great!
    June 5 09:42 PM
  • Judio! :] Glad you're enjoying it so far! Can't wait to hear what you have to say in buoy finished the album!
    June 5 09:19 PM
  • AtomicWaste Also, with as personal as this review read, I would avoid using the distancing "one," which I generally feel has no place in this sort of writing. Granted, it's not grammatical, it's entirely stylistic, but you're close enough to your audience here that you want to come off as relatable. But, honestly, those are minor things.
    June 5 02:00 PM
  • AtomicWaste Good review! I would agree with Johnny's comment that there are too many semicolons. Towards the mid-section of the review, it's fine, but by the end they're superfluous. You could replace them by combining ideas (i.e. "Ultimately Best Wishes thrive the most when they take their time developing the songs by easing their listeners...") or by splitting them into separate sentences.
    June 5 01:59 PM
  • ScuroFantasma The music itself wasn't too bad. It's not really my thing so I can't elaborate too much on my feelings for it, but Clouds was pretty solid.
