    September 5 06:35 AM
  • OmairSh They're touring the US currently, have you checked the dates?
    September 4 06:12 AM
  • OmairSh And of course Tom has a great sense of humour, so I got a few funny pictures with him. Henrik was really enthusiastically talking to a bunch of us for like 15 minutes at the very end about guitar playing, and other guitarists that influenced him like Mattias from Freak Kitchen. Even when he was being told that the bus had to leave, he kept talking. Really approachable and cool dudes for sure. When they walked on it took a while to realise I was actually at an Evergrey concert. m/
    September 4 05:59 AM
  • OmairSh His voice sounded good, but I was so far in front and for some reason I couldn't hear his vocie so clearly. The sound system could have been a better. But they brought the energy like hell, and Tom even Brofisted me during the performance m/. And yeah man they're extremely cool guys to hang out with. Talked with Johan for like 10 minutes, and all the other guys as well. Got pictures as well
    September 4 05:56 AM
  • OmairSh Just came back from an Evergrey concert, and it ****ING KICKED ASS!! The guitars sounded fantastic live, had a real raw edge to them. Got to meet the guys after as well, really great night.

  • OmairSh Tell me about it, and he can sing well. I think he should definitely have a larger vocal presence on future Evergrey albums.

  • Inveigh word well yeah beer advocate is your best starting place, if you're ever interested in trading for some chicago stuff let me know and we can try to connect on facebook or something
    June 27 04:40 AM
  • Inveigh the best way is to probably hit up the beer trading forum on beer advocate. where are you located?
    June 25 12:07 AM
  • TheCrocodile I bought it blind so I wouldn't know. It's a lot more ambient-y than Navigator while still keeping the same style. So if you didn't exactly think too highly of the first one I'd suggest looking harder or find a decent price...
    June 18 01:45 AM
  • mandan I'd say I'm more of a music guy than a movie guy personally, but I do find movies intriguing, plus it's a popular subject in social situations. I find cinema brings more people together than music, because with music it's prob harder to find mutual understanding than with movies, if that makes sense.
    June 11 10:14 PM
  • mandan Nolan is one of my faves for sure. It all really comes down to taste, be it movies or music.
    June 11 10:09 PM
  • zakalwe It's always a pleasure to hear someone digging Fuzzy. That album is an all time classic dude. I've never given a Ryan Adams album a full spin but I'll start on Heartbreaker.
    June 11 06:57 PM
  • mandan Which are some of your fave film directors?
    June 11 03:01 PM
  • pissbore just login through fb if you're already logged into fb when you go to plug you literally just click the facebook login button and you're good

  • TheCrocodile Yeah, each time I listen to this album, when that song comes in, I stay paralyzed for the whole 5 minutes and a half of its runtime.
    June 2 10:37 PM
  • TheCrocodile Glad you liked it I don't exactly know much people to recommend it to around here. Your list gave me an opportunity to rec it though. It's really an amazing album.
    June 2 07:18 PM

  • RoundOnEndHiInMiddle yeah those are what keep it from being really incredible. some are solid but others kind of kill the pace a bit
    June 2 03:05 AM
  • RoundOnEndHiInMiddle it's all good haha, i didn't see that you'd only take two recs until after i posted it. but yeah it's a pretty sick record, one of the best of 2015 so far for me
    June 2 02:59 AM
  • Frippertronics both him and ars are aight, but they take this stuff way too seriously and make themselves look like total ****boys
    June 2 02:48 AM
  • Frippertronics don't you dare change that title, **** them
    June 2 02:44 AM
  • Rawmeeth38 Hey man do I know you
    April 23 06:19 PM
  • jmnewcomer18 damn dude. that must be why you posted on my timeline a couple months back. and ive been good man.
    March 20 05:59 AM
  • Shoteru Secede reminds me abit more of Aphex Twin rather than BoC and Autechre, so he isn't one of my favourite IDM artists, but the sounds he creates are pretty diverse
    March 12 04:47 PM
  • Shoteru Autechre are a pretty safe bet if you want a group with nice consistency, but their sound is alot different to BoC. Secede has some really nice tracks that have a similar ambient feel to Jon Hopkins, and Kashiwa Daisuke's also worth checking out if you dont mind abit of classical mixed in with some glitchy electronics!
    March 12 11:57 AM
  • Jots hey thanks man, nice to know my older stuff still holds up lol
    March 6 02:53 PM
  • jmnewcomer18 breh you your facebook? idk why i cant find you
    February 7 08:54 AM
  • KjSwantko Sup man. Evergrey posted their first single from the new album. Go check it out as it's surprisingly cool I think. I did a news article on it too, if that helps?
    August 15 12:51 AM
  • TheGreatQ Yes haha
    July 24 03:02 PM
  • CrownOfMagnets sorry to hear that, dude. i get mad stressed all the time but i found it's best just to not worry.. my 4th was good, we had a show on the san diego pier (o'side technically).. how was yours? also id love to hear your thoughts on the spider island LP
    July 9 09:35 PM
  • CrownOfMagnets Yo CK how you been?
    June 21 04:33 AM
  • Mesm277 I just can't Dig most of it
    June 18 12:53 PM
  • Crysis They're earlier albums are much better but I still think they're a generally mediocre melodeath band
    June 16 10:10 AM
  • KjSwantko Nice Evergrey list too. Love seeing other people around here giving Tom and the boys some mention!
    May 4 04:51 PM
  • KjSwantko Thanks bro - much appreciated. Nice ratings you got there too!
    April 5 07:36 PM
  • Crysis I went by your ratings to determine if you have/have not heard the albums, so forgive me if you've already heard some of the more popular albums I listed. Most of these are more on the dark/melodic side than the pretty side.
    April 3 01:59 PM
  • Crysis Sure thing! "Oracle Moon" by Garden of Shadows, "The Morning Never Came" and "Hope" by Swallow the Sun, any of Agalloch's first three, anything by Be'Lakor, "Bergtatt" by Ulver, "A Collapse of Faith" by October Falls, anything by October Tide, or "Welcome My Last Chapter" by Vinterland to start.
    April 3 01:59 PM
  • CrownOfMagnets thanks a bunch CK!
    April 2 10:44 PM
  • mandan Yeah man, AiC fanboys are overwhelming on this site. Don't get me wrong, I think Dirt and JoF are amazing, but I prefer Ten and SUK to any AiC album.

  • wacknizzle Thanks, **** yeah, s*** sounds tight
    January 21 07:51 AM
  • DarkNoctus i think it does - but what would have been better is just replacing between times with take me in.
    January 10 08:00 AM
  • DarkNoctus only have the vinyl version - take me in is better than between times but not as good as the others, still a great track!
    January 9 10:30 PM
  • DarkNoctus track 1, 2, 4 and 5 are equally as amazing to me - one of my favourite albums ever [:
    January 9 06:29 AM
  • itsalltherage Yer mate, Hours remains my absolute #1 album of all time to be honest - as unpopular an opinion as that may be. They're playing it all the way through for some shows in the UK in April so gonna catch them in London. Will probably be the best day of my life.
    January 4 07:31 PM
  • minty901 no i havent checked that out but i will; cheers. i just have their main albums from footprints onwards.
    January 4 12:46 PM
  • itsalltherage Bend Your Arms, She Drove Me, Juneau, Escape Artists, Bullet Theory all still go just as hard as the first time I heard them tbh
    January 4 12:45 PM
  • itsalltherage sorry dude for some reason my comments keep on getting cut short. sput being retarded. was meant to end with ',even if it's just for nostalgia's sake.'
    January 4 12:14 PM
  • itsalltherage Only album similar that's better in my honest opinion - is Hours lol. Fave band of all time for a reason. Highly recommend you give it a spin again
    January 4 12:13 PM
  • musicalmedicine That's a nice idea, bro! Will think about it, I love Death.

    December 20 01:45 PM
  • JS19 It's not got really any drums and sparse vocals, imagine the string parts of Departure Songs but expanded upon. Really hit me hard first time though. Last song is literally a real hymn as well lol
    November 23 09:25 PM
  • JS19 Dude, the new hammock arrived for me yesterday. It's like a mix between Maybe They Will Sing and Departure Songs. Went on a walk and listened to it.... Yeah it's a 5 for me
    November 23 08:56 AM
  • jmnewcomer18 Did you get a chance to check out Paper Route yet? I see you accepted my Facebook request.
    November 21 11:53 PM
  • jmnewcomer18 Another band you should definitely check out is Paper Route. They are an indie/pop, alternative rock type band. Not usually a big fan of music in the pop format but they are pretty great. In particular check out their debut LP "Absence". Their second effort is solid also but not nearly as great imo
    November 16 09:59 PM
  • jmnewcomer18 um I haven't listened to them yet but I added their two latest to the sputnik database a couple of days ago
    November 16 09:57 PM

  • Decay Listen to dont forget :D
    November 15 07:32 AM
  • SeaAnemone yea sorry but your complaint about me 'not' mentioning other websites is pretty ridiculous - I don't know if it's a question of reading comprehension or just being super defensive, sorry dude?
    November 15 04:06 AM
  • SeaAnemone or... maybe I was just talking about Sputnik in particular because... I was surrounded by the opinions of Sputnik... viewed by Sputnik users... on Sputnik?
    November 15 03:59 AM
  • SeaAnemone when did I say it was only sputnik?
    November 15 03:53 AM
  • SeaAnemone warning is the best of that bunch. and i don't know about other sites they don't really have a bearing on my original statement??
    November 15 03:46 AM
  • SeaAnemone mastodon, devin townsend, alcest, misery signals, system of a down, tool, underoath, and they severely overrate warning
    November 14 10:33 PM
  • jmnewcomer18 Ahh there we go I found you. But yeah no I've heard of Mudvayne but never actually took the time to listen to them. Any albums in particular I should start off with? Btw check these guys out. Think you might like them, especially if you like Hammock and really anything ambient : http://messagetobears.com/
    November 14 08:01 PM
  • jmnewcomer18 alright bro i added you. i think i did lol. ive been good, man. just applying for jobs and what not.
    November 14 06:30 PM
  • jmnewcomer18 Hey man! Long time no shout. How you been bro? Check out the new Hammock single? Looking promising so far. Already pre ordered
    November 14 09:38 AM
  • ethos oh, wow i'm gonna reply back cause i didnt see your comment until now :X. thanks for the compliment on my reviews! which ones in particular were you talking about? i'll try to write something on an album i dislike, but it's going to be very grating/challenging for me because i generally despise jotting down thoughts on art that doesn't interest me (huge problem in school), i pull a lot of my ideas from just being so passionate about what i'm writing about so i guess the love just translates over
    November 7 09:43 PM
  • DecayingMajesty dude, i checked out the link you sent me.. It was awesome :D http://doradorovitch.bandcamp.com/album/tap-water

    August 24 05:58 AM
  • Mongi123 Yea for me it was LP, then it became 30stm, then A Perfect Circle, and then Tool. It's amazing how much we change for the years. Still love these bands. LP and 30stm not as much but their s/t still remains one of my all time favorite records.
    August 23 12:21 AM
  • somerandomusername Hahaha, that was quite awkward, but yeah, same to you bro! xD

  • ThirtySixChambers hmm ill have to make it a good one
    August 22 02:50 AM
  • geasoftime Nice, I'm glad you checked it out. The album is getting overlooked hard this year, which is a shame. I like the positive atmosphere though - It's an interesting change of pace anyways. Right now, it's a toss up between that or Gris for AOTY.
    August 21 09:30 PM
  • somerandomusername Stop what?
    August 19 07:14 PM
  • Friday13th Yeah I saw the WIM video. Didn't care for the video, but I liked the song! The guy reminded me of Bono, but that's a good thing because I'm usually turned off by these indie singers. I liked the epic sound and some good bass.

    August 19 07:46 AM
  • TheSpaceMan dude you just brought back so many memories haha, and it took me awhile to realize it but your pro pic is the main area in Myst. damn those were good I should try and find my old CDs sometime. My dad beat all of them and kept a really detailed leather journal to write down clues, draw diagrams and stuff. it looks like something out of Leonardo da Vinci's house lol and I used it to get pretty far in the games. don't recall ever beating them tho
    August 19 12:45 AM
  • TheSpaceMan is your avatar the 90s computer game?
    August 18 09:54 PM
  • Crysis As for record stores, you can obviously check out Newbury Comics although the several stores I've been to in Boston proper and around the Boston area have a crappy metal selection. I normally frequent the Newbury Comics and Bull Moose Music in Salem NH and they have large, dedicated metal sections which is where I've bought most of my collection. You can also try Armageddon Record Shop in Cambridge, I haven't been there but I've heard it's one of the best in the area.
    August 18 12:45 PM
  • Crysis Yeah I live in NH. The Palladium is the prime venue for metal shows in New England and that's where I've seen most of the shows I've been to, but I've seen bands play at the House of Blues across from Fenway Park, I saw Agalloch at the Middle East in Cambridge, and Dark Tranquillity at Harper's Ferry in Allston. I even saw Wolves in the Throne Room play outside behind some warehouse in Portland Maine haha.
    August 18 12:44 PM
  • DrMaximus Sweet. I'll check it out.
    August 16 11:25 PM
  • DecayingMajesty Fair enough man,the beetles are overrated.

    August 4 04:15 PM
  • Vakarian12 I remember Mikael saying a few years ago he had an idea to do another concept album based around some some satanic cult and the main badass had to rescue his friend from there and that it'd boarder on black metal, kinda like MAYH. Honestly dissapointed that never came to be, sounded like a really interesting idea.
    August 2 01:41 PM
  • Vakarian12 haha told you so! Creepy as hell. Wish they had that kinda ghostly, creepy style on one or two other albums.
    August 2 06:10 AM
  • avonbarksdale221 Thats disappointing, I love that guy.

  • NightProwler Hey man! Check out some classic danish rock/metal: D-A-D: No Fuel Left for the Pilgrims King Diamond: Abigail Pretty Maids: Din-Decade Volbeat: Guitar Gangsters and Cadillac Blood Def check out Saybia's debut! Perhaps something by "The Floor is Made of Lava", "When Saints Go Machine" or "Nephew" (who has mostly Danish lyrics). My favorite group is Malk De Koijn, but it's a Danish Hip-Hop group whose lyrics are only in Danish. They're like a Danish Beastie Boys!

  • Frippertronics glad you're enjoying it. I'd suggest listening to the official soundtrack, and get ready for some massive disappointment...
    June 3 02:36 AM
  • Frippertronics there were two different version: the unreleased score used in the film and the official soundtrack. I uploaded the score, but the soundtrack can be found on YT. I did a review of the soundtrack. The score is great for what it was trying to be, the official soundtrack is meh-ish. Links: Score: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOjQzmfvaSw

  • Frippertronics yep, i noticed some users had gifs, so I tried to use a gif of False Maria (or Maschinenmensch, or Futura, or Parody, etc.), but I guess sputnik no longer utilizes gifs. By the way, what do you think of Giorgio Moroder's score for the '84 version?
    May 30 11:07 PM
  • JS19 That's pretty awesome man, I'm surprised if I find anything at all not by Gwen Stefani at charity shops near me... And cheers - I'll definitely check them out!
    May 28 09:08 AM
  • Artuma haha exactly :D
    May 21 04:00 PM
  • jmnewcomer18 yeah in a way it seems like they are forgetting what made them famous and taking a completely different approach, but also in way you cant blame them for wanting to try something new. idk man they have never seemed to disappoint so i have faith that they wont this time around
    May 21 03:30 AM
  • jmnewcomer18 s*** man im way behind, did you say majorly orchestral? idk man this sounds interesting haha
    May 21 03:11 AM

    May 9 04:36 PM
  • omgbecky Lmao, that is exactly what I did. Hmm, I didn't mind the music from Anciients. The vocals just didn't do it for me. As for Trvth...those were some long songs. I liked the mellowness. But the vocals, omg. Not digging the screamy stuff.
    May 9 03:04 AM
  • fromtheinside u take your words back. zack braff is a God among men.
    May 6 01:31 AM
  • omgbecky Thanks for your comment, but I don't think "Anciients and Trvth" is a valid anything.

    April 26 03:02 PM
  • CrownOfMagnets Hey man thanks a lot!! Yeah I am the vocalist. I'm glad you think I'm improving. Its pretty hard to rock out and then go sing without sounding out of breath... Once the album's done we're gonna fund our own tour. But its gonna take a while before we can make it to the East coast. We'll probably start with a west coast jaunt to Seattle and back. I'll keep youd on all these things! Thanks for supporting Spider Island.

  • JS19 The funny thing is I actually didn't find them through Hammock - it was because of a shoegaze/post rock thread rec. thread from progarchives. I was more than a bit surprised when i found out it was Marc Byrd... They are fantastic though, not sure why they aren't a little bit better known?
    April 18 09:14 AM
