| Idnuf I listened to the songs with cool features and didn't really like any of them. RIP was okay but the beat was meh. He had Ghost solo on some s*** to just destroy it and gives him this tame bulls***, in terms of atmosphere it reminds me of Child's Play from Supreme Clientele which has always been my least favorite song but at least there subject matter matched it. Idk, Gambino himself is so lame in voice, bad punchlines (at least in the past, didn't pay attention to lyrics here) and just ugh.

| Idnuf That review basically sums up my thoughts on Look What You Did To Me as well. I've become so tired with music that everyone thinks is great, I love the feeling of listening to music that doesn't have to be approved by mass opinion. For a long time it was like I'd just try to get up on classics and the stuff that had high ratings on RYM. The imperfect stuff ends up having more soul a lot of the time.

| Idnuf Yeah that would be cool man the album has def piqued my interest in soul. I understand your qualms about production, but for me Look What You Did To Me is straight classic, even with its problems. It's just that emotion, I can relate to him so much in a spoiled white boy kind of way, I guess I've felt that betrayal too, and it sticks with me. Anyway, yeah his other stuff is great too. How ****ing good is that screwed and chopped Fondren and Main on Cocaine? Actually just wrote a review for Rise.

| Idnuf Not sure if you listen to soul but I don't so it's not required. There's this album called I'm A Loser by Doris Duke and I'm only starting my second listen of it but I'm pretty sure it's one of the best albums I've ever heard. It makes me want to cry and smile at the same time. | Idnuf Good looks, I'll get on that Curren$y too. Kinda conflicted about Chronicles, the songs from Blvcklvnd are worse except for Osiris. Never listened to Black God, but the case may be the same there. I was trying to explain this on the forum, don't you feel like it sounds airy and the songs sound oddly similar? It seems weird that he took independent songs and made them all sound more like each other. What is that instrument/sample he keeps using? It's what gives it that weird airy sound.

| Idnuf Okay so at this point it's kind of stupid and redundant to say that I agree with you about s*** on Sputnik, but I saw what you said on the new HILARIOUS AND WACKY Sputnik album thing and holy s***, is that not the most hackneyed s***? Like it's the same joke about how genre-bending some s***ty fake album is. It's like when people get into "hilarious" competitions describing some fake genre like chillwave jazzcore or something. It wasn't funny the first time, and 16 incarnations haven't helped.

| Idnuf Thanks for the heads up man, I had totally forgotten it was coming out. tbh I'm not in love with it, I don't think it's as good as C4C, but it's still good and to be fair I've only given it one listen. It gets better as it goes on, and I can appreciate back-loaded albums as a nice change of pace, but it doesn't pop like C4C. There's no oh s*** moment where I'm taken aback by how good something is. How are you feeling about it?

| Idnuf Fuuuuuuuuck you're right, it was great. Think this is gonna be my s*** for a while. Song with Z-Ro is so so so so so good but that's hardly unexpected. I think Z-Ro is my favorite rapper. I usually say Ghostface because I love him and he's also good in a traditional sense, but I just love Z-Ro too forcefully for me not to call a spade a spade. Even his stuff that isn't "good" I still love, I listen to him everyday. ugggggggghh so gooooooooooooooooooood

| Idnuf Also, I found the Danny Brown feature really awkward. eXquire seemed to be integrated into the track and then DB just comes on at the end with a slowed down beat and this off-key delivery that contrasts in a really bad way to eXquire's.

| Idnuf I actually haven't heard it (I know, I know). It's one of those things that's been on my plate for what seems like forever. I have these txt files full of albums I want to listen to (1000 ), and they've been building for a couple years now. So right now I'm getting to things I wanted to listen to years ago (and in some cases, like Canibus, that time totally changed how I view those albums). Trae is in there somewhere, if you say it's great though I'll def check it out ASAP.

| Idnuf Yeah I find a lot of the more "intense" or whatever black metal to be pretty uninteresting and stagnant. Da trap muzik isn't as much my deal, I lose interest rather quickly with that stuff. I know indie isn't actually a genre, but since you have that piece of your pie, is there anything that falls under that label that isn't just boring BS acoustic guitars and dudes who can't sing? | Idnuf I used to just say I liked all kinds, but recently I've been listening mostly to death metal if any metal. Have you ever heard Demilich? They're death but melodic in a cool way (not cheesy), and it just sounds like nothing else (plus best vocals ever ever ever). Also maybe check out Timeghoul, their tape Panaramic Twilight is really good, though if tape production bothers you maybe not. Trying to think...not sure what to rec but the genre is really alive right now so its good to get into.

| Idnuf Yeah I felt the same exact way about YAITW. My last.fm is Idnuf just like here, I sent you a friend request a couple days ago. As far as metal, I like some black metal but I can't really say I'm that into the genre. It's like I'll enjoy one band and then hate another that is supposedly perfect for fans of the first band. I can't hear it described and then know that I'll like it, it's all about the intangibles I guess. Doom and funeral doom (especially Worship), sludge, slow stuff mainly.

| Idnuf I mean in theory it should be completely about charisma, but what I've heard is just missing a presence other rappers have. Some dudes like Guilty Simpson force you to take note with the slow pace, but this slowness just seems like mediocrity to me. I suppose I'm mostly talking about Main Attrakionz since they're the first cloud rap that comes to mind. Also I know both those last recs, I think we're pretty even in our knowledge regarding down south s***.

Curren$y has always been pretty boring to me as a rapper but he has cool beats, I'll try it. I don't dislike cloud rap because of mediocre lyrics, it's more a lack of charisma (though maybe that's sorta the point?) on the rapper's part. Clams is the s***.

| Idnuf Yeah I'm definitely not as well versed in the current stuff as I should be. I enjoy a lot of 90s albums that have a reputation but the stuff that gets internet hype right now isn't my style. Like I should love Section 80 but I HATED that production. Boring boom bap beats suck but when I don't like electronic stuff it's really bad. Maybe it's a dumb theory but I think the current hype for cloud rap/softer beats is due to crossover from indie guys who never dug the "hardness" of traditional beats.

| Idnuf I like NY classics ofc, then ATL, H and D-Town. The Minnesota Rhymesayers stuff is mostly boring and overvalued, and it seems I'm cursed to never like rap from Cali. I'll bump anything with good production though, even if the MCing is a bit wack. I think the sweet spot is between the stark, drum-focused 80s stuff and the electronic, clean stuff of today. That's my main draw to 90s stuff, not unjustified elitism, but the perfect blend of hard drums and melody. Do you prefer the cleaner prod?

| Idnuf Continued cuz I'm a verbose ****: As a death metal fan it's hard to criticize something for sounding similar to a lot of other albums, but with that one the sound I could find elsewhere isn't necessarily that exciting to me in the first place. I enjoyed it actually, so it's a high 2.5, but nothing stood out to me as justifying repeated listens. Also, it doesn't really seem like your style, but check out Vakill (if just to humor me), he's totally overlooked (Armor of God is probably my aoty)

| Idnuf Yeah it's kind of sad, but I've noticed that the further you go back in the past, the less educated people are about rap on Sputnik. Like in 2006 I bet you couldn't even get people on Sputnik to listen to Goodie. Sputnik's users have grown up with it, I mean. The more I listen, the further I shift away from the supposed classics, so I think the collective taste could shift the same way. As for Mammal, I felt as though I didn't hear anything that I couldn't find in a lot of other albums.

| Idnuf Good looks on that intelligent rap thread, it's hard to get support on Sputnik when you say stuff like that. The collective taste on Sputnik has a lot of learning to do in terms of rap, especially the southern s***. Thinking about doing a list about the South beyond UGK, Outkast and Goodie Mob but idk if anyone would actually take note. Also liking that 4.5 for Screw, been bumping High With the Blanksta on repeat for the past week.

It's pretty fairly paced, has amazing production for an anime and the story behind the show is amazing. Also a tip for watching anime, streaming is great for really song series, but if you have the internet for it downloading is so much better if you get a DVD rip or a PROPER fansub because there is some terrible translation out there on streaming sites.

| KritikalMotion Ghost in the Shell. Purists will tell you to watch the movie first but really you can just watch the two series instead. They're sorta separate story wise. For reference i'm relating too Ghost in the Shell - Stand Alone Complex which is season 1 (26 Episodes) and Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG (26 eps as well). Just because it's easy to find the movies by mistake and they're all over the place. It's a really amazing series set in the future with all kinds of deepness.

| silentpotato mostly the fact that 'good' bm transcends the likes of the term itself. s*** nothing like burzum or any of those bm 'gods'. im talkin the dense and atmospheric stuff. all the albums that prove that you can find beauty in the most morbid corners of the earth. some of that s*** is practically classical. but ya the s*** im talkin a lot of people would hear and would certainly not label black metal.
