| Relinquished you got as much of a clue as I. they're a spineless, younger group now.
| Relinquished sure why not, ask any french sputnikers here to spread word too.
| Relinquished i'm the only abnormal guy who travels by bike for days "for the movement". virtually save nothing but gain what most don't. don't have to remind you that school first, culture second (women included), everything else third. no mental boundaries, make a leap towards - did you know madison ivy did anal? I learned that today.
| Relinquished save your money big time, and breathe in the culture. art in science, science in art blah blah. stockholm's overrated.
| Relinquished high end as the business is in current times of course.. wolfe's gotta shut his fangs now
| Relinquished for nearly 4 years yea man. idk if I have plans for France though; my job has me spreading my influence in different countries through a high-end foreign music business, while learning of the scenes I'm personally interested in. besides growing and selling pot (lol) I got an underground Wolfe network going, but I'm not using social networking for the most part because I don't want too much of my info gathered - that's gonna be a problem in the future.
| Relinquished nah haven't heard of that. that should be exciting coming from GA huh
| deathschool Sweet man. I'm Christian. I'll try to introduce myself at some point. And I'll try to get some folks to come too.
| deathschool Cool- what do you play and what's your name, man?
| deathschool Sweet man. I've actually played that venue a couple of times. I'll be there. : )
| Relinquished i got them on my check-out list. already got a few people heading to your show when it goes down.
| Relinquished yea i think i heard of them, or they heard of me idk but my bro said they were cool
| YakNips Awesome dude. Let me know if your stuff is ever available on physical format, I'd love to have it
| YakNips Listening now. Digging it. You know I run a label, yeah?
| YakNips What kind of stuff do you guys plan on making?
| FearThyEvil Saw your comment on the new Ocean album and while it's surely different, it's pretty damn good imo. Obviously don't expect Precambrian material but it's definitely their best since then.
| kris. already got mineral capsule and jeromes dream but gonna check out the rest thx bb
| Graveyard i must warn you it's pretty inaccessible, but give it time and you'll grow to love it
| Graveyard I see you like black metal my dear sir, would mind listening to my recent track from my upcoming EP if you get this chance: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=105689
| LifeAsAChipmunk Hey there, I always seem to find you around whenever I find "good music". Can you drop me some recs? It can be whatever genre as long as it's somewhat accessible. :]
| Relinquished butcher is real good, the t-60 though I heard was real thin in the neck so if you don't mind wrist cramps go ahead and get it
| Relinquished either way no ghosts has some great hooks. and this isn't the type of hardcore to fly by heads.
| Relinquished I saw the vids my sis took of Capsule and I thought they sounded great, then checked their No Ghosts album afterwards and wonder why the hell no one talks about them here
| feav233 yo dude, checked out your sludge list you posted awhile ago, thought it was pretty good
| Graveyard yea for the first time in a while i have absolutely nothing to do tonight, i guess ill bump the thread in a few hours or something
| Winsomniac I know that feel. It's cool man, just making sure you didn't mistake me for an actual tardbag. And to be fair, detecting sarcasm based on text alone is pretty difficult.
| Winsomniac Dude I don't know if you're meta-trolling my minor trolling, but seriously they're nothing like The Carrier, and I'm well aware of that fact. I'm equally upset with the evident disregard for genre specificity by the general public, but when many genres nowadays are pretty much umbrella terms for a wide variety of music, sometimes you fight the good fight, but lose anyways.
| MybadMADB Teach me the ways of the metal, most honorable one.
| Recspecs Hahahaha we kicked their asses in soccer, and I heard it was an all boys school so it was definitely gay.
| Recspecs You live in Gainesville, GA? Have you heard of Riverside Military school? We played against them in high school I'm almost positive they are from there.
| runningintocalamity s*** you're right i forgot Breather Resist off my mathcore list I've never heard of the band Playing Enemy so that's why they weren't on there
| accompliceofmydeath I Am God Songs is great. It's super heavy sludge with some hardcore influence.
| accompliceofmydeath You heard that new Black Sheep Wall album? Not diggin' it as much as their last one, but seems like something that'd be up your alley.
| silentpotato so, you've been my neighbor for about 4 years now, thinking about moving out anytime soon?
| Ignimbrite yo, would you happen to have a link for new The Blue Letter?
| mandan You seem to really enjoy the heavy stuff. What's the difference between deathcore and metalcore?
| Athom I'm planning on it. I've just been really busy and I just have to do the new Springsteen first.
| Adabelle 'Sup, added your lastfm yesterday, swag.
| Inveigh yeah me either, if you find one let me know
| Inveigh damnit i think that's the one you found
| accompliceofmydeath What would you consider to be some essential post-metal? I've got Neurosis, Isis, Cult of Luna and a few of the other bigger ones, but looking for more.
| accompliceofmydeath Hey, I'm making an official hardcore recs list so when people ask for recs we can just refer them to one list. I'm looking for what you consider to be the essential hardcore albums. No limit, as many as you can think of that are essential.
| FrankRedHot Started smoking a little bit about a month ago. Lol just found it funny.
| FearThyEvil Yeah man, every song was just so damn good.
| FearThyEvil Never fully listened to Precambrian until today. Wow, the album was a totally awesome mind****. Instant 5.
| accompliceofmydeath I absolutely agree. I'll have to get the rest of their stuff. Is it on the same level of goodness?
| accompliceofmydeath Checked out that new Dead in the Dirt. s*** is awesome. Reminds me of Nails.
| foreverendeared Man, I have it written down to listen to it, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
| cvlts whoa that breakdown on the last track. holy ****
| cvlts in class but will listen soon. what is it?
| foreverendeared Thanks for those recs again. really enjoying them even though The Secret is like NOTHING like those other bands haha.
| foreverendeared Man, I wish I did. I would love to see them live and pick up a shirt or something.
| foreverendeared Hey man, asked you a question on your dead in the Dirt review. Mind helping me out? Thanks.
| FearThyEvil Yo man let me know if you do a turntable room anytime. I get kicked out of the sputnik one by Channing and I really don't know why.
| SleepingGiant Thanks for the recs...found some albums out of those I am going to buy...so if ya have anymore feel free to post also...non related question how did you get the currently digging section under musical taste???
| R6Rider hey dude can you rec me some bands along the lines of Time To Burn?
| BallsToTheWall http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gik1C-Z8ERwZoe is an amazing cellist who needs more recc here.
| whywontyoudie definitely. talked to their vocalist after their set and he was really friendly. i'm actually supposed to be seeing them thursday with Xerxes.
| whywontyoudie They were pretty awesome, kind of sad because only 15 kids showed up though
| Shrapnel94 It really is. I'm not sure if you listened to the recording or not, but it's pretty evident that I have difficulty playing the solo on Angel In The Snow, haha.
| Antipunk terrorizer is legit. vocals are lame for me but the music is superb. wormrot is the s*** too.
| SeaAnemone listen to A Bunny's Caravan. you will not be sorry. you will be the opposite of sorry. except you'll be sorry you didn't earlier.
| HSThomas Also this is the link to Carol's Prefabricated EP, one of the only releases they ever put out and it is equally as good as those two albums;http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWIxd071Bf4
| HSThomas It was the place in Germany where tech metalcore was first created by bands such as Acme, Systral, Carol, Morser etc. They managed to mix tech death metal and hardcore and got it right. They were the bands that basically inspired Cave In and Converge for their own sound. Honestly some of the best tech metalcore ever came out of the place. Two albums I'd recommend are Morser's 10,000 Bad Guys Dead and Systral's Black Smoker. Both death n'roll mixed with hardcore and bloody brilliant.
| HSThomas Hey Eternium, have you ever checked out the Bremen Metalcore scene?
| savagecabbage Thanks for the consistent killer recs. You have some good taste.
| SeaAnemone here's a few things to check out of the emo variety... I consider them must-haves!Shotmaker / MaxCo - SplitOff Minor - Some BloodHoneywell - discographyAngel Hair - Pregnant With the Senior ClassIn First Person - Lost Between Hands Held TightSuis La Lune - Heir EPI Hate Myselg - 10 Songsall 4.5s or higher in my book
| Kimm "Very few Christians acknowledge certain parts of the Bible and when they do they just come up with lame excuses for why that particular part isn't valid but the rest of it is. "
There are a lot of false Christians out there, but that doesn't mean that the true Christian faith is wrong. I'd be interested in hearing some of the parts of the Bible you're referring to.
| FearThyEvil I should have put that it was my opinion as the most influential hardcore album.
| tkxxx7 Can't remember if I thanked you for the Dangers rec . thanks , trying not to 5 it
| Maniac! I suggest you listen to it before I kill you. ..... I mean you should check it out.
| Maniac! Have you heard Rishloo - Feathergun?
| Wizard My reviewing has been a struggle for the last year, I just can't word things like I used to but I will give it a shot. It deserves a solid review!
| Wizard Weird how I started doing one about a week ago.
| silentpotato damnit your right i need to listen to more metal
| silentpotato pretty devastating bro i feel like i just got dumped
| silentpotato you are officially, for the first time in sputnik history, not my musical neighbor
| Wizard Youtube sound quality is like listening to a woman nag at you, I want to just turn it off hahahahaha
| Athom thanks a lot dude, glad you like it. Tbh I'm actually astounded by how it came out quality wise. The whole thing was recorded over 2 months at my house by my friend Conner (he plays drums for the band Modern American Theatre. Sea wrote a review for them i think) and mastered by my friend Pat (sputnikuser TwasGenocide). It's totally DIY but it sounds clear and polished IMO.
| danielito19 awesome you're like the first person I know who likes stuff I like *and* likes grind. Anyways thanks!
| danielito19 hey you're my neighbor and I noticed you like grind. I've been thinking about getting into grind. Give me a good starting point.
| Wizard Hymns was the best possible swan song for Broadrick. Check out that album too.
| Wizard And props for rating that Godflesh album, man, you know your s***. Not many people around here appreciate great industrial.
| Wizard Wait until the album really starts sticking with you...just wait.
| Wizard That's a better rating for Touched hahahahaha.
| Wizard Props for getting me into that Dead in the Dirt band. Holy s*** that`s good stuff. Also, up the rating on that Nadja`s `Touched`. I promise over time that album will click and you will find yourself listening to it everyday. Also, check out Nadja`s `Skin Turns to Light`.
| accompliceofmydeath Thanks, dude. I've got that Pelican album already, but I'll put the rest on my list. I have to be in the mood for post-metal, but I totally dig it.
| combustion07 As for post-rock I'm not really sure where to look. The only thing I can tell you is to check ebay often for stuff you are looking for, you'd be surprised how cheap some stuff goes if you watch closely enough.
| combustion07 Wow I guess my last post got cut off the other 2 werehttp://tolivealie.com/webstore/http://www.officialabyssrecords.com/index.php?cPath=24
| combustion07 Seen you were looking to buy some vinyl, based on your taste you'll probably like these sites. These 3 are the main places aside from ebay that I buy from. To Live A Lie leans more towards powerviolence, grind and hardcore. The other two have more of a metal selection.http://shop-hellsheadbangers.com/mfg-subcat-item.asp?cID=0
| FearThyEvil I have to say you are an outstanding user when its comes to needing recs.
| LegendofPittman Agreed on Deathbed's and Some Mistakes quality. Antpile's isn't the best, but you are right about them live. It was definitely the shocker of the night for me.
| LegendofPittman I just listened to them, not bad at all. They have really good quality recordings as well for a local band.
| LegendofPittman That sucks. As soon as I left an awesome band came on. Do they have anything up yet?
| LegendofPittman That's cool, I literally can't form a band here. Not enough people into the stuff I am.
| LegendofPittman Sounds good, and that's random. lol Yeah so I will be wearing my Jane Doe shirt there which is awesome.
| LegendofPittman Yeah I am really excited about this, seems like a cool line up as well. This will actually be my first real hardcore show, but I have been to a pretty good bit of Metalcore shows. Similar?
| LegendofPittman I finally got around to listening to both Some Mistakes and Antpile, and they are both pretty awesome. Is this an outside or inside venue?
| LegendofPittman CI hoodie? Jealous. Sounds awesome, I haven't really listened to any of the bands there.
| LegendofPittman I meant at the show, lol yeah, I am trying to see if I can get my Jane Doe shirt early for Christmas and wear it.
| LegendofPittman Me either bro, do you want to meet up and hang out for a bit there?
| LegendofPittman Yep, I was actually about to tell you I'm off work that day so I'll be there. I can still get in even if I am late right? because it will be around 5:30 before I get there.
| LegendofPittman Yes! Lol, I asked my girlfriend over the phone and she said Wednesday for some reason. Yeah I just asked her and we are seriously considering going. It's like 2 and half hours for me though.
| LegendofPittman Hey, I just found out I can't make it to that Hardcore show because it's on a Wednesday night. If it was a weekend I probably could, so I will keep an eye out for other shows. I will tell all of my friends who are into good music about it though. (Which isn't many)
| Athom i dunno about that. he seemed a little impatient when i talked about his solo stuff and mikes tv work.
| HSThomas I discovered Bold's Looking Back recently. Some of the best straight edge hardcore I have ever heard. Let you know that because I wanted to rec it you. That and the Absolution Compilation as well. Basically the band that helped create Burn.
| Inveigh ah, yeah I can only find it in torrent form. you should use them though, they're safer anyways. www.btjunkie.com is probably the best, just d/l the utorrent client
| HSThomas What do you think was the best Melvins' album?
| HSThomas Thanks, being needing to find a good place to start for now. These recs should give me a good starting point.
| HSThomas That's sludge for you. Talking of sludge, do you have any good recs for it? My knowledge on the genre is complete s*** and I need some place to get started.
| HSThomas Any time man. Sputnik's layout is appearing really weird on my screen. Oh I'm going to recommend you Playing Enemy's Accessory. It's a seventy-two minute song, pushing their respective sound to its limit. I'll add that and Ephermeral EP to the database as well.
| silentpotato haha thats ****ed. u've been my top neighbor literally the entire time i've been here
| ThirtySixChambers "My opinion is that Republicans suck and Unbroken is awesome."
quote of the day
| FearThyEvil I'm finally starting to like Lord Worm's vocals even though I can't distinguish a damn word he says.
| FelixCulpa Thought you might want some more swedish post rock. Anyhow Sey hollo is a one man band as he himslef describes as "heavy poor man's post-rock based on rusty guitars and organs" which fits really well. The album is great, check it out here http://www.myspace.com/seyhollo
| HSThomas Eternium, how did the meeting with the drummer go with the lyrics?
| accompliceofmydeath Hey I'm gonna make a 10 essential metalcore albums. Looking to see what your input is. What are the 10 most essential metalcore albums in your eyes?
| fr33convict rec me some harcoar plz i hope it'll be better than the br00tal death metal mappy rec'd me
| tvol hey you're actually my #2 musical neighbor whatever the hell that means. enjoy masterbating before bed
| someguest sometimes I think we're the only two that use our brains here haha. good argument bro.
| someguest That album by The Secret is basically Converge mixed with black metal in case you were wondering.
| BallsToTheWall Dude check out this guys review So Hideous My love. 3 short songs of pure ****ing amazingness.
| Bitchfork Yeah remember to follow the tracklisting I just gave you because witchy ****ed it up when he put it in the mediafire account. Thanks for list'nin
| Bitchfork Did I give you my ambient/post-rock split with witchrapist? If not, then here you go: http://www.mediafire.com/?3pm6d1a935snkj1 THE TRACKLISTING GOT ****ED UP so remember it goes like this: Astral Plane 1, Astral Plane 2, Disharmonious Latitude, ...And Harmony Escapes, Hello Longitude (Erik), Benadryl Blah blah
| FearThyEvil Yeah, I won't stop at one listen I'll keep going back to it.
| FearThyEvil Ty for the recs most of them sound good. Except for None So Vile instruments sound fantastic but, the vocals are to strong for my ears lol.
| HSThomas If it's about the sound is going to have the same unifying concept that both Jane Doe and We Are The Romans have? More importantly are you going to base the lyrics upon?
| HSThomas Apologise for not posting earlier. The formula that you wish to create sounds like a blend of technical skill that shows its influences but also connects on a deeper emotional level through these dynamics in the same way Jane Doe does?
| HSThomas When you talk about dynamics I think that's where the full potential of the sound and the various influences will come to light. I keep thinking of that soaring, space-rock riff on Cave In's "Juggernaut" and how that really stood out against the barrage of low-tuned guitars and drumbeats. It's that contrast that make the dynamics so much more potent. How wide is the range of influences you're going to be incorporating? Is it going to be influenced by only the genres mentioned or is it wider?
| HSThomas That formula could either end really well or end in a car crash of guitar wankery and listlessness. Just to clarify though, is it prog metal by way of maudlin of the Well or more Opeth and Edge of Sanity? Are you going to incorporate quieter sections into the music or is it going to be full intensity all the way through?
| HSThomas Same here unfortunately though I've been doing the scream vocals since I was about 11. What other genres do you want to incorporate into it?
| HSThomas If there as low as that, will the band's sound incorporate a level of grind influence? Also what bands have you played in before?
| HSThomas I've been thinking about forming a band for a while as well. The idea of a mathcore band sounds interesting though. Who's going to be doing the vocals?
| HSThomas They blend hardcore with mathcore principles but take the more hardcore approach ala Black Flag in their Damaged/My War days mixed with the discordancy of The Dillinger Escape Plan, possibly even Drowningman, and influences of sludge metal in certain songs.
| HSThomas I'll add it then. Should be up soon.
| HSThomas Hey Eternium have you ever listened to Breather Resist and The National Acrobat?
| Hyperion1001 Agalloch has never come close to Atlanta to my knowledge, but i'm hoping they're going to get some funds for the release of their new album and come down here. I'm going to be there no matter what if they do.
| Hyperion1001 Never been to a black metal show? Come see Enslaved with me in Atlanta in Nov. 10th. (Well, not really with me, i don't know you, but just heads up for that show.)
| Urinetrouble what r you smokin'? i just had some white widow a couple days ago
| Jesuslaves you do realize that list is just mocking rabbit and all those other dumbs***s, right? lol
| BallsToTheWall http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/14253/Marduk-****-Me-Jesus/
| Hawks Yeah I don't know why the format got all ****ed up, but you know what's there.
| Hawks Yeah the atmospheric stuff is where it's at. Try these out:Addaura - AddauraAn Autumn for Crippled Children - LostColdworld - MelancholieLeviathan - Massive Conspiracy Against All LifeBurzum - Hvis Lyset Tar OssDer Weg Einer Freiheit - Der Weg Einer FreiheitEmperor - In the Nightside EclipseDrudkh - MicrocosmosKataxu - Hunger of ElementsPaysage d'Hiver - WinterkaelteSatyricon - Dark Medieval TimesThere's a lot more I could give you, but that's just some stuff to start with.
