| anat BEERRRRRIIIIIIIIIICK
| aok Hey Walter. Sold out again recent?
| Elynna Happy holidays to you too!
| Elynna Okay I think I found a record you might enjoy (hopefully). I've been jamming this artist regularly the last couple of months and based on your highish Magma ratings you might like Koenji Hyakkei - Dhorimviskha (Japanese Zeuhl / brutal prog / jazz). https://koenjihyakkei.bandcamp.com/album/dhorimviskha
| Elynna Sure! Let me take a look at your ratings first and I will try to come up with something good. I will have it ready tomorrow
| Butkuiss 12% jazz in the pie, you are safe
| parksungjoon open square bracket, L, close square bracket, band name (must be exact), open square bracket, forward slash, L, close square bracket
| anat elbowing with my left elbow for you to vote in the league! don?t make me elbow with my right elbow!
| JohnnyoftheWell HI thank you so much for expressing interest in Sputmix 2023! There is one (one!) bureaucracy barrier for you to overcome - please hit up this form and send your info over asap, so I can get a database going and pin down what this thing is gonna look like. Love! https://forms.gle/zkKtidhnXpgYUsUv5
| Pheromone now i know to camp and wait - my cover WILL BE MINE
| Pheromone lmao nah i was kidding i just wanted to make sure i was able to get my cover in before anyone else nips it love u thank u
| Pangea Don't forget to vote for the music league! only like 7 hours left
| Manatea Yo did you ever end up checking those Corea albums?
| parksungjoon chose to keep a few things in their original state cuz i felt like the nuance of their meaning would change otherwise. tried to incorporate most of ur advice tho, thanks again
| someone Oohhhh yeah there was this zine in Berlin that was looking for writings on the matter, but from the looks of it, they haven't progressed much.
| Mort. yeah id say italics or quotation marks should make it clear its a reference but i get not wanting to
| Mort. oh lol woops should have read the thread, my apologies
| Mort. ' geep' in your gorillaz rev should be 'jeep', just a heads up. dont want the thread in my discussions
| someone Now, this might come as a testament to my ineptitude as a promise-keeper, but what architecture**** you on about?
| someone i knew you'd embrace your true self. welcome back, Miloslaw
| Pangea hi milo you got a song for us https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=202356 the theme is one hit wonder songs/artists/whatever
| Jasdevi087 Beth and (not) Beth seemed either kinda nervous about being recognised or somewhat exhausted to have been recognised again, couldn't tell which. I basically just told them i was a fan and that it was nice to meet them.
| Jasdevi087 the gig was awesome, i went with my mate and his girlfriend and we got spots right up at the stage. We were all super impressed with Adrienne and Buck (this dude carries himself like every note he's about to play is gonna be the stankiest thing you've ever heard lol)
| Jasdevi087 actually ended up meeting Liz and Jonathan at the Big Thief show, do i win the survey?
| Jasdevi087 1) i do an enjoy of them. 2) do not know a single person who knows who they are. 3) I wanna say maybe they get most of their exposure across the ditch? they seem to spend a lot of time touring overseas and I don't think i've ever seen them billed for anything here. cool and good Salo pfp btw
| Jasdevi087 i am one of the boys, what are we researching?
| JohnnyoftheWell okay yes fair and there are many 4 songs on there but SIR that thing is too damn LONG and has a couple of stinkers and the (awesome) prod wears thin in a long dose and i just want Vein on repeat plz spare me
| Pangea Hey Milo, do you have a song for sotd? the theme is nature https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=200646
| swallowtales Ahahaha glad I can contribute something, will get round to listening to something of theirs one of these days when the fancy strikes
| swallowtales Yo, I must say I have somewhat intentionally never listened to The Beths due to the amount of press/NZ music drool they get, and funnily I don't know anyone who is into them. Not a slight to them tho probably good band but not appealing to me aye. I only know Deviant from top of my head from here, think there were a few more the years ago when I was a bit more active, but can't remember haha
| Orb Oh shush you're undeniably the more captivating writer! The way you do it... every drop of ink drips off your pen like warm honey. It inspires me
| Orb I'd like to take a moment and say your Meshuggah - Immutable review is an absolute masterpiece
| Pangea Hey Milo! Here is the link to song of the day if you still want to join: https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=200084 the theme is comeback songs
| Orb Just reviewed an old jazz record who's musical quality I think might be worth your time!https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/85013/Ike-Quebec-Easy-Living/
| someone calm down, just need from you a proofread and an accomplished writer/blabberer's second view
| someone right, i am starting to see my intelligence laid out in front of me. the word is f u c k
| someone darn conservative standards and practices of Sputnikmusic, always censoring my words. the censored word is ****
| someone here's the zine: http://yesofcoursewe****.com/ it might benefit greatly from some of your classic MiloRug sharp zinger-heavy writing
| someone hey there, are you on discord? i might send a piece i'm currently writing your way for approval/factcheck/proofread, but it's not a review. it's an oped i write for this one zine in Berlin, which you are also welcome to contribute. it's far from finished yet, but i'm hoping to get it done soon enough and send your way, if that's cool
| Orb here chief, I got a dnb mix I made a while back that might be fun for you and your system upgrades ;)https://soundcloud.com/scryer-sound/body-language
| BlushfulHippocrene Also aaa struggling to get into that Material Girl even though I really liked their last. Maybe need to be in the right mood for it.
| BlushfulHippocrene Hi, yes! I've always liked her but this is the first album by her that I've really loved, although I don't really know why. Really also love what you've written so far but I'm not sure if I really have much to say about the album -- I'll keep listening today, though, and see if I can wrangle together some thoughts.
| someone great to know. i'll soon-ish dump your way my review of Edan's Beauty and the Beat you tasked me with reviewing some four scores and seven years ago
| Orb anything by EPROM of course. Also.. Quasar's Soundsystem Addict EP will blow it right up. And for a full album literally handmade for testing the capabilities of Hifi gear, check this out... it was released yesterday.. https://ultimae.bandcamp.com/album/onwards-system
| MarsKid Thanks again for the help bb, the insight and assistance was very useful!
| MarsKid I appreciate it! I'll check em out.
| MarsKid Gimme an email an I'll add you to a doc
| MarsKid Hey there pal, would you be up to giving some writing a little editing love and care?
| Orb New review up and it's *gasp* not electronic or metal. Fancy something 600 years older?
| Orb Ok put me down for Zhrine - Utopian Warfare from their only album, Unortheta. Absolutely incredible, goosebump inducing opener of a tune!
| Orb That link doesn't take me anywhere!
| Winesburgohio just how i like it; doused in chili oil (i'll attend to it presently !!!)
| ValenDreth Thanks for the suggestion. However, I can assure you I'm not racist.
| someone next best thing, you can throw us a rec in this month's SOTD thread, Ars is hosting, theme is overlooked 2021 recs
| someone hiya there, why doncha throw SandwichBubble four recs under 15 rating votes on his new thread. he could use some of your erudite insight
| Jots idk what that means lol but i'm sure the mods will know the drill
| Orb got a review up for the new Gremlinz and Jesta release on Artikal. Check it out! I think you'll dig. Nice blend of dubstep techno and breaks.
| JohnnyoftheWell m'boy m'g! your eyes and thoughts would be l o v e l y, but i'm crossing my fingers that it might be up within that span, pending enough auxiliary paws on deck. thank you for the offer but possibly dw?? unless i **** it and am still loose in 12 hrs, in which case i implore thee!! big peace
| Friday13th You have a vote for the prof semifinals?
| DDDeftoneDDD its crazy. I have a stacked pile and there's the new Deafheaven (no huge on sunbath tbh). Anyway waiting for the new Hooded Menace, not sure if its your thing, but they're tight.
| DDDeftoneDDD That s*** is pre awesome. Tks a lot. Spreading the word already.
| DDDeftoneDDD "Magma, Yeti, Mastodon, King Crimson, Kayo Dot" WAAAT!? ON ME WAY. Tks a lot Milo!
| parksungjoon not sure id call reddit a shocking corner of the internet
| someone Now there's somebody who might like some prog rock on occasion. Friday13 has a tourney for prog but needs one more participant for eligibility. Would that be something interesting to you?
| someone hey, RiloMuggles! go join this bich: https://discord.gg/aGYkmKd8
| Orb https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/82983/Screamarts-Endless-Journey-Inwards/#comments some dnb for ya there captain!!!
| JohnnyoftheWell that is the RIGHT ATTITUDE!!! will you wanna pop ur blog cherry, or is it easier if i publish? ALSO iirc, good ol' Homephone TE started off as a lightish 3.5 for me, but mark my words boi, that alb is a Boris-lvl grower if ever there was one
| porcupinetheater Milo! Congrats! Taking this ****ing site by storm with your whiles and charm and super sweet writing, wow. Icon.
| BlushfulHippocrene Do us proud, brother. (I don't comment much, but I adore your writing. A very worthy addition.)
| LeddSledd you a staffer now! very deserved, keep it up mate :]
| Orb When are the candidates picked?? :)
| Orb well i really hope i get it. been kinda wanting that gig for years now!
| Orb thanks man! would be a cool gig for sure!
| Orb Ok I applied. Is it just that Google Docs form that needs to be filled out?
| Orb When and how good sir!!
| someone oh shoot, Avantdale, haven't heard that since it was released. Remember liking it a plenty
| someone need some spicy juicy tasty recs of 50-100 ratings. could you throw me an album or two?
| evilford Dam u just rated some rly good albums sir
| Winesburgohio Hey bb, what a phenomenal idea! I'm not well-acquainted enough with Avantdale to be of huge service but can happily offer you an antipodean perspective and constructive critique. And bend you over my knee and administer a good flogging. I'll probably do that regardless of the quality of the piece. xx
| Pon https://open.spotify.com/album/7HcZxlfL5qlA53KWWS2uuO - you might vibe with this if you're after more of the same my guy
| Pon Two of my favourites from the last couple years are open.spotify.com/album/4x6R05pMmc3ONfA73w26Dz and open.spotify.com/album/0MVOe24oItnvnzVzfjk35H. First is strictly choral, the second is with an ensemble. Fav choral work OAT is open.spotify.com/album/2TrW85LwJ4vEjIGyExtWBm but it's a bit lengthy so I'll understand if you wanna start with the first two.
| Pon https://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/multiple/a-failed-entertainment-works-2009-2014/ -- This is the first recording of A Failed Entertainment, but I can't it on any streaming platforms so you'll have to seek some souls methinks.
| Pon Sweet to hear you liked it (I think?). AFAIK that's the only recording of Earthing so far, so you might be thinking of A Failed Entertainment, which was first recorded by Quatuor Diotima then again by JACK Quartet (and appeared on the Earthing album).
| Lacedaemonius Word, thanks for saying so. I write for one reason: to get people listening to the tunes I rec, so hearing someone's checking out this or that because is real validating.
| JohnnyoftheWell Ahhh you BAITED me, but I always see this at work and cannot jam ugh ugh, will try to listen tomoz (busy this eve alas alas)
| Pon No worries, and while I love some squelchy modern classical from time to time I honestly prefer a lot of choral/vocally-oriented pre-common practice stuff so I could give you some recs there if you like? Look forward to hearing what you think of Earthings as well.
| Pon There's also no shortage of super-abstract modern classical being composed now, but to be honest a lot of it is borderline unlistenable so you gotta do some sifting. Magnus Granberg, Jakob Ullmann, Pascal Dusapin and Clara Iannotta are probably my favs, the latter's most recent composition "Earthing" was performed by JACK Quartet this year (not a plug, I swear) and it's extremely texture-focussed but still very musical IMO. Give that a try too?
| Pon lmao nah you're doing something very right if you're able to like everything. "Wildest" classical I've heard would probably be something by Penderecki, Kurtag, Scelsi or maybe Radulescu. Matrix 5 is the essential sampler for classical befitting of a horror film, so give that a peep if you haven't.
| Orb bruh 3rd Eye is a G;OA))))T. I've just been re-doing all my ratings since I got em wiped earlier in the year, still a long way to go. A reassesment of sorts, as I sort my digital library in the process. Man that album makes for a ****in weird mushroom trip :::]
| Orb Yee buds! I think its the low end on that release that really kicks it from a high 4.5 to an easy 5. Its like getting pummeled by an avalanche of deer skulls and pine boughs.
| Orb Program Music I, 5'd? Big up :]
| someone They drink with us too. You can't handle being sober here. Made a mistake of only having one cig pack tho, can't buy new ones and have to borrow from others. Will check the rev now.
| someone Hello hello, gonna get on that Edan rev soon. I'm in the countryside doing a children's summer camp, so not a lot of listening opportunity or internet at all.
| parksungjoon New review. Gonna catch up with cryptic shift soon maybe
| AsleepInTheBack will do mate. I'm surprised i can stomach it at all, quite frankly, given its not a style i ever frequent, but its pre gud. just need to get used to the vox.
| someone so i guess you can pick one from these: Yugen Blakrok - Anima Mysterium (conscious wordy hip-hop), Fela Kuti - Roforofo Fight (afrobeat jazz), Chick Corea - Now He Sings, Now He Sobs (piano-led jazz), Head Machine - Orgasm (screeching oldschool heavy psych), Yoshiko Sai - Mangekyou (70s j-pop). it's up to you now, whichever you like you take
| someone i've picked out a little under 20 albums so far, so i might in the end pick like five, describe them to you and let you decide what you want to take on. that cool?
| someone do you like jazz, jazzy hip-hop, electrojazz and electro music?
| someone oh crap, it's Edan, yeah i **** with Edan, will review no problemo
| someone no pressure indeed. ive got my hands busy anyway lately, cause im going through listening to all the users decade list albums and other nonsense irl
| someone my ratings are terminally incomplete. we can do both tbh. i'm up for it, if you are
| someone you got anything specific in mind?
| someone Hippity-jemminy yes-aroo, let's do it.
| someone oh youve already responed on the cohen review, nvm then
| someone just popping in to say that your reviews are awesome. that's it, have a good day
| DDDeftoneDDD And its not metal...its more on progrock grounds
| DDDeftoneDDD You are very right ahahah...in my opinion its a non-cheesy retroband. Super genuine stuff from Lithuania lmao. It only grew on me with the yt doc, buy itsa fair 3.5 with no bias either.
| DDDeftoneDDD They are both 4s but I was completely absorbed by Hallas lately (along with Cryptic tbh). Cheers
| DDDeftoneDDD Yeah sometimes is just a matter of volume. I don t know why the 3 is there tbh...I guess its okay to forget your 3s lol
| DDDeftoneDDD Ahah I dig the dude. Specially his last effort.
| DDDeftoneDDD I feel sorry for that Eminem run...only Marshal Mathers matters tbf
| parksungjoon hahahahahahahahaha so i said and yet i may or may not have started writing something entirely different, completely on a whim!!
| parksungjoon Oh. I'm sorry. Kinda put aside writing for a while
| dedex damn it's harsh but it's hilarious so you all good
| JohnnyoftheWell **** I'm gonna jump on that (join the contrib groupchat and @me there!!)
| Slex Appreciate that a bunch friend! And ay, lone wolf status, I can dig it-keep up the awesome work!
| Slex Hey bud, do you have a Facebook? Contrib crew has a messenger group and we're tryin to add the new additions!
| neekafat unfortunately I'll have to ban you for the penis :/
| Gnocchi We have dick tats. Font size depends on the amount of area available
| Gnocchi Hey babe, welcome to the crew
| JohnnyoftheWell my dude!! not gonna lie, this ballot business has somewhat eaten my free time and I have yet to start scribbling :[ sorry, have been a mess - however it's mellowed out a little, so I'll make some noise on the contrib chat. would it peeve you if i tentatively suggested this coming weekend for the upload? no rush for anyone (AND NO EXCUSE 4 MESS) that way?
| DDDeftoneDDD Its a very fresh (at least to me) raw folk bdm...since I was never a big melodic folk fan they managed to pull it out in style imo. It deserves more attention fs. Since you re a digger of folk would love your take on it.
| DDDeftoneDDD Def take listens, cause there s some gazey twists on that brootal stuff. Curious enough I was on that III from Spectral Lore. Really good stuff! Haven t finished yet
| JohnnyoftheWell This is a stooge enterprise and will cave to anyone who asks :O and hmm not sure, Nocte says sometime in the wknd and I'm working on another Seiko rev meanwhile so sounds cool I think?
| Dedes Hello sir have you jammed Old Man Gloom I know you have no idea who i am but have you
| JohnnyoftheWell Oh damn, I have that at 2.5?! Hmm... results may vary, I feel more strongly about than Sunbather so might accidentally end up Effortposting hehe. Will consider ;]
| DDDeftoneDDD just a reminder, I guess I ll check when the new one comes X)
| DDDeftoneDDD ahah that's the secret brother! Metal Kiwanuka! BTW you need to jump on afterbirth like a maniac (pls lol)
| parksungjoon na i aint written s***. however my up and coming new friend has put a ton of effort into this and i figured he might appreciate feedback from someone as epic as you: https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/81117/Alpha-Wann-Une-Main-Lave-lAutre/
| Gnocchi that said. I've probably got a review a day coming until work goes back
| Gnocchi to be fair though I've just got myself distracted with the new Esocthrihilum promo. I wasn't expecting another album so soon.
| Gnocchi "everyone dropping reviews" tldr: nocte is filling the front page and I'm scared haha
| parksungjoon god i desperately wish we could keep in touch on discord or something
| parksungjoon whens the next milo writeup, thats what *i* want to know
| parksungjoon perhaps, but that doesnt change how hard it is in the moment of writing
| parksungjoon nah the pressure is cuz i want people to be convinced to check out a good album. i feel like i need to do a good enough job, in terms of either entertainment or information, in order to give that a good chance of happening. thats the only pressure i suffer from, but it is kinda painful tbh
| parksungjoon naaah the pressure gets to me man. pretty much everything nowadays except like one has been complete spur of the moment manic s*** which is very tough to keep professional and feel good about.
| parksungjoon fair enough! thank you, yeah, hope you found something relevant to your interests on there
| parksungjoon anything interesting for you? btw i see blush seems to hold you in high regard as well. that's a vote of confidence if i've ever seen one haha
| parksungjoon https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=1034220
| parksungjoon ive been given all kinds of advice from various contribs/staff but for some reason it just doesnt click idk
| parksungjoon i have a hard time finding meaningful things to say when im trying to write seriously
| parksungjoon but yea its all good man dont worry. believe me im well aware of how bad i am at writing (got a couple serious attempts too if you wanna confirm for urself)... maybe one day ill get better somehow who knows
| parksungjoon i mean you don't need to hear em all lmao just whatever seems like it could be up your alley
