Trying to make your name as a band noticed in the Melbourne music scene is one of the toughest tasks facing an up and coming artist, as every second person dreams of that lucrative record deal. Though there are only some bands that are worthy, and worthy is Innerpsace, who have taken a step in the right direction and have the potential to go all the way with their fabulous and attention grabbing debut album Life On Earth.
Life On Earth encompasses the musings of vast sound scapes and different genres. You can hear inspiration in there sound from bands like Muse, Coldplay and The Killers, but Innerspace are able to twist and turn their sound to make everything sound unique and new. Tracks like “Afterlife” are the perfect example of the Muse – esque offerings. Building up from an almost haunting vocal intro to an epic climax of synth and huge guitar riffs, the sound is huge and fully blown making you think twice that you are listening to an unsigned band. Even though there is such a large sound for only a 3 piece band, the songs transform perfectly across live and the trio are able to mix loops and pre recorded synth lines through house speakers, giving the large sound that is offered on the album.
Innerspace have a lot of potential, though in the recording of the album it is quite obvious that they ran out of ideas quite quickly as a fair few of the songs in the middle section of the album tend to blend and sound samey( aka “Sunday Driver”), though there are enough stand out tracks to save them from fading like a lot of bands. A perfect example of this is the U2 sounding “San Francisco” that is a song almost ready to be played in venues all over the world with its hook laden chorus and dainty versus that make the listener swoon for more. While the track “She Said She Knows” shows off the bands diversity with a tight rhythm section and fantastic guitar and vocal work coming from Lucas William, which is a highlight of the album as the band create a huge sound which is different to anything else on the band have offered throughout the release.
The squeaky clean production and fantastic sound of this album is really a credit to the band as they have worked hard to get noticed. Innerspace have definitely made a reason and statement of why they should be a household name with Life On Earth. Innerspace are heading somewhere big, and with their hook laden choruses and huge live sound they will become a force to be reckoned with in the future of the Australian music scene.

I'm getting a little confused with your reccommendations. From Billy's review Calling All Cars are hard rock with punk fused in, from this review these guys are spacey indie pop, i just can't see why you reccommended CAC.
Oh, and you may want to fix up the track listing.

Yeah I will when I am more awake so I dont miss anything, well it has some similarities to hard rock in some songs, and Calling All Cars was the only band I could think of at that point in time haha, probably not the best rec. Oh shit it was there before.

Yeah I know after posting and then re read it, i found so many errors, though I am not in the state of mind to do it now since I am not that fresh minded. Been writing so much shit for uni this was sort of a break and well, i should have posted tomorrow once I re read it haha
