4 of 4 thought this review was well written
For those of you who aren’t familiar with whom Matthew Cutler is, you’re in for quite a treat. Cutler (or better known as Lone) has been lurking about the underground electronic/hip hop scene since 2007. Cutler used to be involved with a duo called Kids In Tracksuits, but the pair has parted ways since 2009. When not working on Lone, Cutler is collaborating with Keaver And Brause in a group called Kona Triangle.
Now let’s talk Lemurian. Lemurian is an album full of instrumental tracks packed with luscious beats all topped off with stylistic ambient elements. The album starts off with ‘Koran Angel’, which subtly introduces the unique sound of Lone in an interlude form. As the album progresses, the sound of Lone becomes more and more clear and exclusive to the listener making it obvious that this isn’t your ordinary record. Cutler doesn’t stray too far from one of the things he knows best - keeping a well-paced flow to an album. Not to say that Lone has a redundant sound by any means, he switches his effects up quite a bit offering a variety of reversed drumbeats, joyful synth pads and texturized tracks. It all offers an optimistic, almost ocean-like sound. To compare Lemurian to Flying Lotus’ work, and J Dilla’s ‘Donuts’, I would say it's similar in many ways. While Lemurian isn’t as complex as Los Angeles can get, he has a familiar style to Ellison but definitely has some differences. When thinking how Lone could be anything like ‘Donuts’, well, it’s simply because of the pure catchiness and mini interludes sporadically placed on the album. To try and explain it, Lone’s music sounds a lot like euphoria in audible format. Lemurian is a very relaxed album and is especially suitable for night listening, as if Cutler’s objective was to distract the listener from common worries and the grab them from the real world to "unwind" if you will. Songs like “Sea Spray” and “Sunken” are sure to tranquilize the listener and encourage daydreaming.
Overall, I initially gave this album a 4, but found that I just kept coming back for more and found new parts to love about it. It’s an excellent album for any listener who enjoys the genres of ambient, trip hop, electronic, and instrumental. Recommended songs to check out if your hesitant about getting the album are: Interview In Honolulu, Maya Codex, Sea Spray, Phthalo Blues, Buried Coral Banks, Sunken, and Minor Suns.

i'd definitely recommend it Prophet, it's an awesome album. almost enjoy it just as much as Lotus.
i've been listening to the Kona Triangle album that's out and it's a lot this but with a crazy twist. Also, his latest album
"Ecstasy and Friends" is really good too.

Good review man, pos'd.
I just started checking out this guy, I started with Ecstasy and Friends and then Emerald Fantasy Tracks, both were great. Might check this out next.
Also, I thought this little description of yours summed up how I felt about his other records pretty well
